Ways around high insurance rates

Drivers ed class gets you a discount with mist insurance companies. Good for 3 years.

If your parents are willing jumping on their plan could save you some loot.

Otherwise not getting speeding tickets/crashing your car and getting older.

Try Root. They have an app that tracks your driving and gives you rate based on that. But also being a new driver you wont get good rates no matter what.

Shop around or see if you can get on a family member's plan and pay them.

Some companies offer discounts for good grades if you're still in HS. Same for driver's ed.


Drive a low cost slow light weight POS.

Register your vehicle at a relative's in an area with less traffic

When getting quotes and buying, ask for the state minimum requirements and no more

Commit insurance fraud

Drive uninsured

Rip around on your lamborfeeties/chevrolegs

Figure out how much money you can spend on a car and buy one that costs 1/2 that amount and then you can just use the cash plan. Buy whatever insurance is the minimum required by your state. Don't crash

And the parents thing is almost always cheaper. It should go down very quickly if you don't fuck up. If not you are paying through the nose for the best part of a decade.

Don't get a DUI either. Don't take the breathlizer if you do. My homie blew a .12 at 1130 AM the NEXT morning sure he'd pass. Those shits are rigged for you to fail just like the field tests you are going to fail automatically regardless of what you do. Also watch out for weed DUI in any state where its legal. There is no way to test for it and every cop is itching to charge you with it and fill the for profit prisons. Remember the more a cop is violating your rights the nicer they are going to be to you if you are white trying to get you to say something incriminating.

ayyyyy this is my jam. cheapest way you're gonna get it (at least in my state/surrounding states this holds true): lately Progressive is killing it in the monoline auto insurance market - get a car you don't need full coverage on, and minimum liability limits required by your state, pay for the 6 months in full if you can (progressive offers paid in full, not sure about other companies) - they'll give you a discount if you have college education, are employed, do paperless (email documents only, nothing in mail), of course you dont have to have a college education or be employed but they won't check on this if you're lying. it's also cheaper to go direct with progressive than going to an insurance agency (rip for us insurance agents).



if you cant swing the paid in full (all at once), do monthly automatic payments from a checking account - only a $1 installment fee rather than like $4-8 each month for non-autopayments.

there's also a discount for 'snapshot' (their telematics program, meaning tracking your driving habits) - this can also negatively impact your rate if you're an aggressive driver and not knowing that threshold i dont know if i'd suggest that. gl tho

Yea but it wasn’t 7am and he took an Uber the night before wasn’t puking or anything.

I dont think those things are accurate. I could see someone blowing a big number off a sip of something strong.

Yeah that can definitely happen. The field BACs are only reliable enough to get you down to the station to blow into their big water bong thingy and that is considered admissible in court.

If you're really trying to save money, just get collision only insurance which covers the other car but not you. Then participate in the stupid programs they have where you put the tracker in your car to see how you drive--will either raise or lower rates based on driving habits. Say you drive the least amount of miles you can select.

If you're getting full coverage, then actually having a newer car with more safety features can save you money because they have more collision avoidance systems than older cars.

Those things are known to let companies hit you with charges for going over a set speed, usually 70mph. 70mph highways and above exist. There also seems to be a low threshold for hard braking, so hitting the brakes at a yellow light can end up costing you. Unless you're the person that's always going 5 mph under the limit, I wouldn't recommend it.

Oh yeah I definitely wouldn't either. But if he's really struggling it could be an option. I drive like a maniac and well over my stated mileage so I would most definitely have my rates go up lol

I v lapsed on insurance and it's so expensive to get reinstated so not letting it lapse is one strategy to keep it low. Ended up calling about 15 different places and geico was the cheapest and gets cheaper every year with no blemishes on the record.
