Replying to Japan

So it looks Hakuba is going to have little to no snow base for early december.... so I'm thinking about going to niseko/northern island for december, then hakuba for 15 days in january.

So where is the cool places to go in niseko? I hate drunk Australians so quieter hills are preferred (feel free to PM me some spots) is it worth paying for a tour? Or even better is there any place that will let me hire a car without an international license? Any advice is mucho appreciated
