jmthefisherHas anyone on NS skied on the Fauna Alparka? If so how do you feel about them what type of skier is this geared too is it durable?
FaunaSkisThe Alparka is fairly stiff underfoot, not volkl wall stiff but a decent stiffness for confidence on hardpack jumps. From the centre, it softens out to the tips progressively as it goes into the slight rocker at the ends. Not blend or wet soft but enough to press if you’ve got some technique.
Given the width & flex they’re not a particularly buttery ski but a decent balance.
As for durability, we picked 2.2x2.5mm edges to go with the extra thick 1.8mm race base for a ski that withstands rail and rock impacts well. The topsheet and sidewalls may be real wood but the they’re hardwoods which are protected, with epoxy on the topsheet and hardening oil on the sides.
for a bonus, if you do manage to tear out a heel piece from the double fibreglass underfoot, you can spin the ski round and mount it the other way round and the graphic still works along with the full symmetric shape.
Thanks for the tag heads up.
jmthefisherThank you this did help a lot I'm looking to get a new ski soon and you've be added to the list of posibilites.
