So my roommate is about as stereotypical of a ski racer as you could get. Super hardcore as well. He's currently injured but will be back on skis around January. We were just having a conversation and he said he's planning on bringing about 11 pairs of skis when he comes back after winter break. Some skis in this quiver include: two pairs of slalom skis, two pairs of GS skis, two pairs of training skis, carving skis, powder skis for "light powder days", for "medium powder days", and for "big powder days". We live in a tiny dorm (msu north hedges) and his closet is already stuffed full and pouring out into the room. He's saying that he plans to store these skis in various spots around the room. I tried to reason with him, but he insists that he has to have all those skis to have a good season. After all, he says that last season he skied over 20 different pairs in 4 weeks. I suggested that he keeps the skis under the futon so that our room is still functional, but he noted how stacking these skis is not an option because it's "terrible" for his edges and would ruin the skis.
Have any of you ever heard of something like this? How should I respond?
