whatever happened to the hype about the Association of Freeskiing Professionals? I'd be on their website monthly ( that mahogany velvet maroon colour of choice for the web layout, nowadays it's baby blue) to nerdly obsess about my favorite skiers. I remember something like Kenworthy, Wallisch, Wells, Heule, Brown, Schlopy, and Henshaw all in the top 20, and always seeing my faves competing at the Dew Tour and X-games. keeping up with my faves was almost ritualistic and even my local ski team, we always talk about whos gonna get number spot on afp rankings. Damn maybe im just getting old but i feel like the competitive side of freeskiing peaked in the early 2010s. Today our sport has gotten so technically inclined and almost over-saturated with aspiring skiers on social media platforms that can get reconized tobe become a "amateur" with 1 or 2 sponsors. TL;DR freeskiing is rapidly changing, as with the exposure of being an athlete, i would fly out to Are, Sweden just to experience a JOI in person!
