Have you ever dreamed of starting your own ski company? Well now is your chance!
I have a very nice production grade ski press for sale in Salt Lake City. It is built to the"monkey press" design, with upgraded electronics. The electrical system is very high quality components and was professionally (over) designed. Dual PID silicone heaters for top and bottom with aluminum skins and aluminum cat track top mold. The pneumatic bladders and pneumatic controls are also top notch, the hoses spec'd were tediously researched to ensure they we're up the pressures, bend angles and operating temps. (This is where many people mess up and under spec hose) I have a fully documented build file with receipts, supplier info and design files. There is literally nothing wrong with it except the fact that it isn't being used! This has real low hours too, has literally only pressed a few skis. It is on a really nice roller stand with caster wheels that are up the job, and on level concrete this 7000lb monster can be moved by one person. Material cost to build we're just under 6grand and that does not include labor, which there was a massive amount. It plugs into a 50amp 240v outlet (if I remember correctly, could be lower amprage). I ran it for years off an electric dryer outlet and never threw a breaker.
Build volume is large enough to produce 200+cm skis. Snowboards can also obviously be built as well.
To complete a ski building opperations you will need at minimum a router and router table, (cnc would be ideal, quite possible to build a good one for under 1500) table saw, band saw, and some various other woodworking tools, and you better know how to use them! Building skis is very tedious, especially at first while you are learning and setting up your jigs and fixtures (which make it much faster), but the reward is that a setup like this is quite capable of producing absolutely top notch skis, and if done right they can outperform any mass produced ski off the wall.
I also have a good deal of ski materials I can sell with the press so you dont need to track that stuff down to get going. I am willing to provide reasonably local assistance in getting everything setup and can advise on design and process.
I am one of the guys behind Daymaker Touring and this is what I was doing prior to that. I have no time for ski building any more and I need the space in my shop! If you are interested hit me up! It is an awesome press and you won't be disappointed!
Pics won't upload from my phone so I will post some shortly.
