Replying to First freestyle ski advice needed please!
Hi All,
Looking to buy my first set of skis (and bindings), and would love your expert advice.
Background:
5"9' 65kg very confident skier, granted i've only been around 8 times, but ill happily smash out all the blacks i've been on, swiss wall etc. Technique isn't the best, but i'm working on it. For me, the most enjoyable part of skiing has always been the lips on the sides of pistes, so the last two times I went skiing I explored the park, and absolutely loved it. I can happily do 180's on medium jumps, turning both ways. I've always wanted to buy some ski's, and the lack of twin tips in the rental shops last time I went has pushed me to finally take the plunge.
Requirements:
Unfortunately, all the friends I ski with much prefer on piste and between piste - with a bit of back country if the weather is right, so I need a ski that can keep up with them on the slopes, and will be fun to play with on the lips. Obviously i'm still very much a beginner in the park, so need a slightly forgiving ski. So far, i much prefer jumps to rails (not sure if this makes much of a difference?)
Bindings:
I literally haven't a clue about what to buy, advice very much welcome. More on the cheap and cheerful side.
Budget:
I would like to spend around £500ish all in - this figure is based on what i've seen in end of season sales etc.
Skis i've been eyeing up:
Armada ARV 96 and K2 Poacher. I've also heard good things about Faction Prodigy 2.0
Let me know what you all think please! Also, advice on length, I was looking at 170ish?
