Hey there!
I’ve been skiing for a long time (6+ years), but I usually just rent skis from my local ski shop and use whatever they give me, no questions asked. I haven’t really noticed any huge improvement until this past season, and I enjoy skiing more than I ever have before because of it. I figured that since I enjoy skiing so much now, it’s time to take it to the next level and get my own skis, bindings, boots, etc. So, what should I get?
I’m a younger kid, small and skinny for my age (currently about 5’1.5” tall, and roughly 95 lbs). Based on my current growth, I’m estimating I’ll be at around 5’4” when the season starts back up again. I’m guessing I would need a ski that’s around a 160, but I’m no expert. As for what I enjoy doing on the slopes, I’m sort of all over the place. I spend most of my time going down marked trails, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, like any average person. I also really enjoy going into glades when I have the option, but I tend to take them a bit slower to be safe. I don’t hit the park too often, but I’m interested in getting into it a bit next season. I don’t expect to be throwing backflips left and right, but I plan on learning how to do some rails, a few jump tricks, and other not too crazy things like that.
I’ve done some researching, but I just can’t quite figure out what I would need to take my skiing ability and experience up a notch. Any information is greatly appreciated!
