Please help this parent of an 8 y.o. park rat sort out this puzzle. My kid is convinced that his Atomic Punx 5 are not symmetrical enough with regard to fore/aft boot placement. I agree - it seems more of a downhill placement aft of center. I understand how this can be throwing him off as he is trying to improve his spins from 180 to 360. I can see how CT 1.0 factions are more symmetrical in boot placement, and also seem to be softer bending skis. And Atomics seem to have more chamber than 1.0.
But CT 1.0s do not seem to be short enough for him. He is using 150 cm now, I figure I can go up to 155.
So I see CT 0.5 on faction website on sale. I was about to grab them but it seems to me that their boot placement is more akin to Atomics - more aft than 1.0. Is this correct? What about the camber on 0.5 - is it also more traditional, or flatter more like 1.0?
Also, faction is selling 2.0 which is a bit wide. But how does its chamber/rocker profile compare to 1.0?
Finally, are there other skis that are similar to CT 1.0 profiles and bend? Center boot placement, flattish camber, floppy ends? I didn't see much comparable in ski shops and it's hard to figure these nuances in online stores.
Lots of questions. Thanks a lot.
