What the hell do I do?

I'm so deep in depression that I want to cry to wash it away but can't. I swear I have this feeling either at the start of every day or at the end of every day. Should I go see a doctor? Do I need anti-depressants?

At the very least you should go see someone. Whether that's a doctor, therapist, friend to talk to, or even NS. We're always here for you!

whatever you do, don't self medicate, it's easy to gravitate towards the bottle when you're stuck in that mindset. First thing I would do is try to recognize why you're feeling that way. Are there external forces putting you in this state? (i.e. School, girlfriend) if so, try to weed them out or at least make some major changes. If you're pretty sure it's more of an internal imbalance, I would for sure see a professional.

I have this same problem and I weed it out every afternoon. I smoke a lot. It's not a good way to deal with it but It works a little. Sorry about that thourughbottler! *wink*

Take care of your head man. Stats show therapies work. Drugs not so much unless you are also doing one of the therapies.
Being in a good place mentally is a skill like skiing. Some people come to it naturally but most people can benefit from some lessons or coaching. Pretty much everyone is capable of improving their skills.
Hit me up if you ever make it to Hood. Let's ski some laps.

"Should I see a doctor/therapist?" shouldn't even be a question if you are feeling like this. YES. Tbh even people without mental health issues can benefit from seeing a therapist and learning DBT or CBT. You obviously need meds and support. Get after it NOW.

To me depression is thinking of things that you can not change. Thinking of things that have happened to you could require therapy. IF thinking about the future makes you depresses you need to get your shit together.

The best thing to do is to start a routine or get a mantra. Something you can say to put you in the right mindset or something to do so you are only focused on the task at hand

Depression runs in my family and I don't understand the whole drinking to escape the pain thing. If I'm depressed in the first place and wake up with a hangover I almost need to be put on suicide watch. That shit is ugly.
