Commit n huck. When i first started doing them i'd point my hands at the landing as soon as i spotted it to help bring my feet around. the Bigger jump the better, just gives you more time to react. Have fun

Don't just throw yourself I to it. You want to land it in as few tries as possible to avoid injury. Come into the jump with enough speed to get the flip around. I would recommend about 5 feet of air for your first attempt.

Once you reach the lip, pop as hard as you can off the lip and push your hips up and over yourself, while simultaneously looking for the landing with your head. You want this to be a fluid motion and not a super jerky one. Also looking straight back is important to having a backflip, not a whackflip.

After you have taken off and are looking around for your landing, don't stop looking and pull your knees into the chest, this will help you keep momentum of the flip.

Once you have spotted the landing put the landing gear down, and ride out like a pimp.
I know it's a lot, but if you've never backflipped even on a tramp, following these steps will be important.

But the most common mistake among new backflippers is they lean back while coming into the jump. it creates what I call a “sling shot” and makes so hard to actually land them. You get it around every time but the landing is non existent ie you back and headslap from the momentum of the sling shot. .


Tldr

the single greatest tip for me was to ride in with lots of shin pressure into the lip, POP,then lean back and arch your back and neck, and HAVE TO BEND THE KNEES as far back as ya can while in the air.

or just huck and pray either way as long as you don’t catch a tip

If your having trouble with your form, work on it on a tramp. make sure you can lay it out
what I did was get some really small like thrift store skis, put some duck tape around all the edges and pointy bits, took it on the tramp and hucked it. hope this helped

I wouldn't recommend until you can on a tramp lol... That would be super sketchy.

When you pop, keep your knees straight until your skis have fully cleared the jump. Set from your hips, and it's good if you're able to see your feet until they go above your head. Also keep your head tucked in, not cranked back.

Don't land on your head.
