does anyone think that rap was a lot better in the early 90's when it wa like tupac and nwa stuff. I dont like rap very much or at all really but just hearing it on the radio and seeing it on tv. I dont mean underground stuff either i am just talking about mainstream stuff. I cant stand ja rule and ludicris or jay z or anyone today really. All it seems to be about is money and stuff just get boring.

I'd say about half of mainstream rap is good. Ja Rule has gone so down hill, i thought his first album was actually really good, and now he sings every fricken song featuring some chick. Ludicris is actually pretty funny i think, i like how he articulates. A lot of rap is about pleasures of the flesh, you'd probably understand their mentality a lot easier if you've ever been drunk at a dance club and just danced all night w/ and on girls. It's an awesome night, but it'll kind of put you in that mentality. But they overdo it and the lyrics aren't too innovative.
Some albums though you hear it on the radio (shudder) and it sounds like a crappy mainstream cut, but then you'll hear some stuff on the album that's actually decent.

yeah - 10 years ago I was litening to De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest, and Pharcyde - and those albums are still bar far better than anything that has come out mainstream now......the old stuff has so much rhythem and old tune sampling like lou reed....ahh... it's goood muuuusssiiiic!

I agree and diagree, rap has changed so much in ten years that it is almost a whole different art form...everyonce in awhile I like hard core early gangsta rap beats, or a more chill tribe or pharcyde song, but I also enjoy today's more upbeat kill a bitch music and at the same time intelirap, like Kweli. I also agree that Ja Rules first album was sick, it was pretty fucking hard core, but he went where the money was, bitch rap, but can you blame him? now he has more money than you will ever see in two lifetimes.

Aww... fuck... Beastie Boys(!!), Public Enemy, De La Soul, A tribe Called Quest, Notorious BIG, I miss the old shit. I guess I don't really miss it because 10 years ago I was 8 and didn't really like Hip Hop or Rap. But Its Good compared to Ja Rule & Nelly.

Hip hop was the first type of music that I actually gained an interest for, but lately I just find most of it really boring. It's great in the clubs, especially when I've had a couple, but aside from that, I don't really listen to it much, despite the influences around me (a lot of my friends will only listen to hip hop).

there still is decent rap.. abstract rude and tribe unique are awesome. to make millions is a brilliant song i think.. esp the part when its like blastin big airs off of ramps to backside boneless to loss of track of time to faceplant to homeless. great ski video song, cept if you want to keep it with clean words.
i got into them after hearing stop biting in mike nicks section of some movie, propaganda it must be cuz i dont watch a ton of ski movies.
also asian dub foundation is good.

Peace to jodi, the native tongue era was ill. 10 years ago was ill because of records like illmatic (nas) and 36 Chambers (wu tang) not because of west coast fucking cracker. Good rap still exists but the fact remains hip hop is dying and selling out. There is some good shit coming out still, J-Live, Blackalicious, Ghostface K-os you just need to go beyond the main stream. But I geuss if you think NWA was that good the thing you should be bitching about is producers not rappers. Peace
