When learning 3's I keep going off axis or landing wildly backseat. Any advice on how to stop this?

I just keep going halfway off axis once I take off while starting my spin. Any ways to stop from doing this and landing in the backseat?

Don't look down as much when you are looking to the side to spin, sometimes this happens when you try to chuck it hard. Focus on looking up more

I had the same problem here are my tips
T Set
Don't be a boner, stay low before the pop, steezier and it helps
Use your head to lead the rotation DO NOT LOOK DOWN

What everyone else is saying, looking down means you rotate off axis, just look straight out and turn your head to spot the landing

It’s all about your set u want to be up right and spinning with your shoulders and hips in sync and spottting your landing by looking under your shoulder or above it. I prefer under

It's all in the pop at the start of the jump. You should try to pop forward and up. Also you should try a few penciled out 3's. When I say pencil, I mean try the 3 while you are standing straight and tall... like a pencil.

I used to do this all the time. Its all about your eyes, your body follows where you are looking. If you eyes are down it will throw you off axis. You need to keep your eyes on the horizon line as you rotate and use your peripheral vision to spot your landing.

This thread has some useful stuff but nothing to really help you fix your 3. Pick something up the hill from a jump and spot it at 180, after you spot it look for your landing. Looking up the hill will make sure you stay level and it’s easier to use a tactic then it is to straight up change your technique. Once you have it dialed looking up the hill you can start to just spot your landing as your body will be used to spinning on axis.

Put pressure on shin when approaching lip is the most important thing.
Dont set your spin with the angle of the lip set it more flat or forward.
Don't huck just set a nice fluid motion with your shoulders.

Get a ski pole and put it on the lip of the jump laying it down so you can straddle it. For some reason this really helped me out when I was first learning 3s because I had the same issue of being backseat or off axis. Also, like other people have said, you need forward pressure to get the pop right. Crouch, keep your arms/hands in front of your feet. That will help you get the forward pressure you need.

This is it chief. You just need to lean forward when you take off. Leaning forward by pressing your shins against the front of your boots does the trick

My 3s were inconsistent, but going into the jump I started thinking “forward pressure, pop hard, look around the horizon, spot the landing (at like 270)”

not looking down is the most important. Staying upright and looking around the horizon will keep in a good position. When u look down u also tend to drop your shoulder and do other bad things. Going through the 4 steps above can make u stomp 3s ez

You could also find a steep mogul and spin into the hill if you don’t get all the way around no big deal you’ll be pointing downhill but concentrate on leaning forward ant spotting Landing
