I started skiing without poles for the first time

Why the fuck did I ever use those annoying things

It feels like I'm surfing, grabs are soo much easier, I can get on the lift and not worry about em and access all my pockets way easier. Plus my arms don't get fatigued after holding those heavy things after a day's skiing

No poles crew

Yeah with a racer background that makes sense

I spent a lot of time longboardin and surfing as a kid so having free hands is a natural thing
Plus for work I'm always lugging a gat around so having nothing there feels Goodman

The first 7 seasons I skied with poles. Last season I just dropped them and idk why. I used to skate so having free hands feels natural for me too

I froth no poles crew in the park and for hot laps. But as soon as you ski some steep shit or powder or sidecountry or whatever, you look like the biggest fuck on the mountain

I couldn’t agree more. I stopped skiing with poles so my phone could be more accessible to me whether making laps or sitting on the lift.

As I get older skiing gets more boring and I can fight that by surfing the gram or checking in with NSG.

I actually responded to this in between features.

I dumped the poles this season for the first time. Feels great and I too had no clue what to do with my hands. Im more comfortable now with free hands. I do get the poles back when I get on my carving skis.
One big bonus I noticed along with the previous one is that my hands stay warmer longer because I dont have cold poles leeching cold though my gloves

I still use them because when I’m out skiing anything other than park I hate not having them and it’s a pain in the ass to find somewhere to drop them for park runs and not have to worry about someone snagging them. I’m also just super used to them and feel way better with them.

I also have yet to see someone without poles look comfortable while they’re skiing. It’s such a small thing but people without poles always look awkward when they’re skiing to me. It’s literally only the difference between hands open or hands closed but it just looks really goofy to me for some reason.

Poles are great for skiing powder and can help for balance but if I'm not in waist deep pow I drop em! How else can you live?

the obnoxious little kid in me loves to zoom past racer dads through moguls poleless wearing tommy hilfiger on my wets, pop off a mogul, land backseat, stay backseat, hand-drag nosebutter, shifty safety, tripod to the liftline

Always fun to tie my poles to my pack and just fly around carelessly on the last few runs of the day.
As others have mentioned I also grew up skating and surfing my brains out so having hands free is always when i ski the most STEEZY

nah we have trees but my poles actually got stolen last year so now I’m kinda paranoid bc I really liked those poles and they’re gone now
