Also a clear enamel will help prevent chipping and scratches

Make sure your paint is good for plastics or put a primer coat of something to bond to the plastic that your paint will bond to.
Also plastidip looks like ass and peels. If you do plastidip, definitely add a clear coat so it doesn't look dull.
If it's lime green, don't paint. That's a sweet color.
Lastly, not like anyone cares about this, but once you paint your helmet, you're modifying it so any warranty or lawsuit claims are now void.
