So i’m 5’4 110 pounds and ride park always, not usually powder. Need help deciding a size that’s a little big but not too big (I want to use them for this year and next year. Would 170 be too big and would 155 only last this year. Is 160 good? Need help.
Ski level is like intermediate. I’m skiing east coast and it’s usually really icey. Also my height at maturity will be like 5’10 at max. Keep in mind i’m not even 15 yet i will be in december
If you’re like me and just starting to get heavy into park tricks I’d recommend Line Tigersnakes. They are entry level so they are good for learning and they are pretty good skis and affordable so you’ll be able to get new ones in a few years. That’s what I’m planning on doing.
I love telling people to get longer skis, but honestly I see this as a toss up. You're younger so would grow into the skis and it sounds like you like longer skis. Who knows where you'll end up in height. 15 is a little on the late side to grow a full 6" but possible. If you did grow to be 5'10", I'd even argue that 170cm is short. Also 10cm isn't a whole ton of difference. Park skis are gonna also feel shorter cuz you'll be mounting closer to or at center. On that rationale, I'd say go big.
On the other hand, your skill level is intermediate and it sounds like you're pretty exclusively park. Going too big on skis may impede your progression inside and outside of park, however longer skis will be more stable for jumps and at higher speeds. Also if you're skiing park almost exclusively and frequently, these skis might not even last very long if it's all park. 160cm at your CURRENT height is perfect. In that aspect go short and buy bigger skis next time.
This decision also depends what you're riding now. If you're on 160's and feel they're too small or you could be fine going up, then go for it man.
Disclaimer: all my skis are as tall or taller than my height.
