JezzerHi, I'm doing my NZSIA level 2 in Coronet Peak next month. I have 186 peacemakers as my everyday skis and I've been told that the examiners insist on having narrow carving skis - mine are 104 waist twin-tips. Can anyone who's done the course advise on this? I feel pretty happy on the peacemakers, they're pretty stiff, make any turn shape and hold an edge real well. I've been told that you need proper carving/slalom skis to do all the technique stuff and turn shapes they require of you but I'm not sure I believe that.
-arc-Just look for some traditional all mountain skis. I was doing my training for CSIA Level 2 and the guys from work were pretty impressed at how I could do the techniques on my 102 4Frnt Vandals. Overall they said it would be worth the investment picking up some secondhand pair of race skis or something similar. They're just built for what they're assessing. Also, when kids inevitably ski all over your topsheets they won't be ruined ;) I think every instructor knows what I mean. Good luck and let me know how she goes!
