I am looking for a resort based offpiste ski to add to my quiver, which today consists of two touring setups (rossi 7 HDs / Transalp 88s).
I have some marker dukes laying around that I am gonna mount on the new skis, so I can do some legwork if needed. I will be using mtn labs as boots for all skis, atleast for next season.
I ski in southwest Norway. For the powder days in my closest resort the soul 7 does just fine, I have not needed anymore float.
I am mainly looking for a ski that works in chopped up snow. A typical spring day begins with refroze chop, which turns slushier and heavier as the day goes on. I will be focusing on offpiste skiing, but tehe ski being able to work on groomers wouldnt be a bad thing.
So far I have been looking at the cochise and vwerks katana as a nice complement. Weight is not really an issue, and I want something that can bust throught crap snow. I do not ride park or do tricks.
I have also had a look at the ONE3P and Moment skis, as these have been getting good reviews. But they are harder to find here in Norway.
I consider my skiing to be decent. I am abit fresh to offpiste skiing, and I definetly struggle abit in rough conditions. (tendency to get on my heels).
Is there any other ski you think I should be considering? Is the metal laminates skis overkill? I generally like to go fast on skis, but have not yet the confidence/balls to haul ass in the offpiste. What would you choose as a complentary ski to the soul 7? I Do not need a full-on powder ski as of yet :)
Thanks for your help
