Thoughts? Please fuck no, I like less skiers than more, and half of having skied the baldy chutes is the hike

emrenthis is a late april fools joke...right?
FigNewtonIt is only for ski patrolers, so no public. It will be an eye sore, but people still will have to hike. The idea is to keep patrolers safer and hopefully open the chutes easier/more often.
emrenI read some of the proposed action document and it sounds like the tram would also be open to the public
This lift would transport ski patrollers to near the top of the mountain to allow conventional explosive avalanche control work. The lift could also be used for skier access below the tram or in the east and west Mt. Baldy areas when conditions allowed.
SkiBum.Make Alta great again.
I’m hoping for one of those ski through Starbucks
emreni heer the snowboarding is great at alta
IsitWinterYet17Lol 15 people per car? And 150 per hour? Must be a typo. That's no tram. Literally the size of two gondola cars. Perhaps that will help with traffic. For comparison, snowbirds tram is as much as 120. Jay Peaks tram holds 45. And fun fact: when researching the number, it turns out in 2016 Jay was required to reduce the number from 60 to 45 because the original manual from 1966 had an error in the capacity. Fuck me.
I agree with other folks here. Hike to terrain that has avalanche risks and gates are good deterrents to keeping people from venturing outside their skill level. A tram could invite some inexperienced folks there. Just think of the Asians that travel in big groups, strap on rental gear, and slide all the way on their backs down blacks. Good lord.
