Heel Piece ripped Out while carving- Faction dictator 4.0 w/ warden 13's

Heyo,
So, About a week of hard skiing/ hucking/ ski patrolling, on this ski goes by and the heel piece rips out. Luck was on my side, 5 seconds earlier I was Mack 11. The binding rips out after I slowed down and layed over a few deeeep carves.

What can you tell me? why did this happen? What possible things could have gone overlooked at my ski shop during the mounting process? These skis have serious metal top sheets and this shop has admitted to only ever mounting 3 other pairs of Factions ever. They want to re-mount them but I need to understand what went wrong before I ever trust them to mount my shit ever again. Who really needs a ski patrollers shit to break while you are strapped into a metal toboggan?
Please help meee! that shit is scary!

Quite possibly nothing went wrong. You say your self your riding them hard, and factions are not known for having the best cores. Not everything is someone else's fault sometimes things just happen. I would get them heli coilded if you really want the same mount, or get them fully remounted if you dont care about mount point.

you spent a week skiing hard/hucking. Sometimes bindings rip out...

Maybe they stripped a screw and didn't notice it, but that's unlikely for an experienced tech. If you ski hard you should check that the screws are tight every once and a while. If a screw gets a little bit loose the binding can start to vibrate which pulls the screw out a little bit more and that's how bindings can eventually pull out.

Can definitely just happen from shredding hard. I've also only mounted a few sets but the one thing I notice for sure is Factions are thin and the cores don't feel as hard as other skis

Don't they have titanal in them?

My understanding of ski manufacturing is limited but wouldn't that mean the binding screws are being mounted into metal vs. wood?

One would think a metal on metal connection, if done correctly, wouldn't rip out as easily as a wood mount.

OP, did you mount the skis yourself? If so, did you tap the threads?

The trouble with relying on titanal for binding retention is that the screws stay in the titanal and the the topsheet, but still rips out of the wood core. So if you have a ski that is built as such:

Topsheet
Titanal
Fiberglass
Wood Core
Fiberglass
Base

And the binding screws go through the first four layers, the tearout happens as such:

Topsheet
Titanal
>
Fiberglass
Wood Core
Fiberglass
Base

If there was titanal underneath the core, it still wouldn't help too much as very, very little of the screw (if any at all) would come into contact with it.
