DingoSeanYep. I would feel like SUCH a DORK if I had to ski in the olympics and have to be in one of their hype projects to sell products that probably ruin 3rd world countries...
When I was a kid it was cool.. CBS portrayed the olympics as something a bit less corporate and more real. Now it all feels like one big corporate circlejerk. On top of that, I just kinda hate the nationalism involved at this level... like we are supposed to be all hyper American and buy all this stars and stripes stuff and yell YOO ESS EH YOO ES EH? That's so fucking nerdy... especially given we are watching a bunch of over-privileged white kids who haven't had any true adversity compete... sometimes for nations they werent even born in.
Good thing you didnít qualify or get a discretionary spot, phew!
Lighten up and enjoy the display of some amazing skiing, on an amazing course.
In 2012, everyone claimed that skiing was dead because of slope and pipe being included in the Olympics. Still waiting for the funeral.
And, the Olympics have definitely benefited the athletes that compete in them. And you still have other skiers that have never competed in th Olympics doing just fine.
Skiing was never some huge money making endeavor for kids that like sliding rails and doing the switch. I donít think the Olympics have benefited anyone other than the athletes who are competing, but I donít see how itís hurt everyone else like a lot of people claimed it would.
In fact, itís probably made it easier for kids all over the world to say shit like, ďgosh Mom!!! Iím not wasting my life, I want to be an Olympian!!! Now buy me these fucking adidas track pants and this fucking yoke Dad cap or Iím going to do heroin!Ē
