It sounds like you're cranking down really hard on a hotspot or pressure point.
When it hurts next time go into the lodge, take off boot (and sock), see what area looks red and inflamed, and loosen that area slightly. Use the microadjusts on your buckles and loosen very gradually.
If some self-adjusting and trial/error don't do it, go see a bootfitter. Probably just go see a bootfitter anyway, they're worth every single penny you pay them.
