Sick from smoking weed

There's a lot of potheads on NS so maybe someone can help. I've been smoking regularly, about 3-5 times a week for the past year. About a month ago, out of the blue when I was smoking my stomach started to get upset and I almost puked. Since then, my stomach gets upset and I feel like puking almost every time I smoke. There's been 3 or 4 times where I actually felt vomit rise up my esophagus and I'm surprised I never actually did puke. This happens with any strain I've tried, and dabs too. No matter what it is, blunt, bowl, dab rig, dab pen, I feel sick every time I smoke. The only thing that seems to match my symptoms is Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome but I don't think I have it because the symptoms seem more serious than mine, I don't need showers to calm the symptoms, and people with CHS have been smoking for years before it hits them. The only thing that helps when I feel like this is going outside to get fresh air or moving around and doing stuff, and even this doesn't really solve it it just delays the symptoms. I really hope this is just a phase. Has anyone gone through this or something similar before and is there a cure?

I went through a phase like this in August where I felt extreme nausea and dizziness after a bowl. Took a 2 week break and have been fine ever since.

No, most of the time it's just an upset stomach and a few times my stomach would churn to the point where I almost threw up.

I've thought about that but it's not like I'm worried or paranoid about it. I'll just be sitting there zooted one minute and the next my stomach starts churning.

How long did that phase last before you took a break? I honestly just might stop for a few weeks and see what happens.

Gotcha. Smoked a lot earlier this year. Started to get bad stomach churns and reflux. I thought it was smoking so I got checked out. Turns out it was a hiatal hernia.

It sucks but at least I'm still good to smoke.

Yeah man, smoking is awesome, but if it makes ya feel like that then maybe stop?? It’s kinda the reason I don’t drink too much anymore.

I know you said you tried different strains, but how different/various? Also, have you been sick from smoking out of a bubbler/bong or edibles? If not, give that a try..

Depends on the person and the situation. Not everyone was meant to be able to smoke absurd amounts of weed. Also I'm assuming you're young ish under 20 and that hold even more true. Figure out your limits and respect them. Smoking or using drugs in general isn't a contest. Some people can drink more than others some people can smoke more than others. Do what you gotta do and chill there. No reason to push the limits. If smoking, drinking, doing anything makes you uncomfortable stop or cut down on your intake.

Smoking or drinking or anything else isn't "cool". Dabbling in any of the above is fine but use as you want and be careful. Smoking a joint or drinking a beer doesn't make you any more cool. If it's working out and you dig it,send it. If it's causing problems downsize or cut it out entirely. Be careful and have fun.

I've had digestive issues for years, and one reason I indulge in MJ so frequently is to combat those symptoms. It's only a bandaid on the issue though, I'm convinced that my symptoms are a result of so many years of excessive drinking, huge bong rips, a very unhealthy diet, and long periods of inactivity. I've felt much better after adopting a healthier lifestyle of eating natural and healthy foods and hitting the gym several days a week. Sometimes I'll wake up and feel like shit, but a hot shower does wonders. Skiing, obviously, is a great workout and will crank your metabolism through the roof.

Anyway, it just baffles me that I used to be able to smoke quarters in a day and now I can barely stomach a blunt. I've cut down the amount I smoke which has seemed to help and I'm progressively going to smoke less until it's not a problem or until I decide it just isn't for me anymore.

Sorry but CHS sounds like it. Try stopping using pot as suggested above and see if your symptoms abate. If they do, then pot is likely the culprit. Perhaps decrease your usage. You appear to be in the prodromal phase which is characterized by early morning nausea, fear of vomiting, and vague abdominal pain. This can last for months to years before you ever reach the hyperemesis phase (aka puking your guts out).

Fun fact, in one study, 32% of individuals with CHS had used cannabis for less than 1 year.....so it's not impossible for you to have it. Your frequency of use definitely puts you at risk.

There's many things that can cause these symptoms. Asking people online to diagnose you on a forum is just about as helpful as WebMD (the answer is always: you're dying). Best bet is to just see a doctor if it is becoming a significant bother.

My roommate had CHS and me and roommates I had to drive him to the hospital numerous times so he could get hooked up on IV drip. Sucked when we only had one bathroom and he’d be in there showering and draining all the hot water all day. He’d cut off dabs and go to weed temporarily but would always revert to dabbing and same old shit. Just quit or cut back it doesnt suck being able to pass a drug test without cheating
