How much air do I need?
Is clearing the knuckle on a jump all dependent on speed? Weight? Pop? ect... I'm not taking physics but if I don't have a long distance before the jump, can still clear it? On a similar note, if I can backflip with tramp skis, can I try it in the pow?

Don't listen to this troll, clearing a knuckle has nothing to do with speed, just make sure have a lot of saga and vishnu and you will stomp everything.
It seriously depends on everything. The snow quality (spring slush or powder is slower), temperature that day, groomed or ungroomed snow, angle of the jump, distance from the jump to the knuckle, wind, ski bases, speed before hitting the jump, did you pop well enough. So many variables, but in general easier than it sounds to estimate the needed speed.
Start small and work your way up to bigger jumps so you get familiar with the feeling of how much speed you will need. The bigger the jump the bigger the consequences of miscalculating the landing. Always test your speed before hitting a jump- don't just blindly do it

You can only clear a knuckle if you are in a full saga kit.
Just fake hit it a couple times, bomb the hill and slide the whole jump sideways in order to fuck the lip just right. than youll be golden

Listen to this guy ^ only thing I might add is turn the lil number on your bindings down all the way so that sets it to the least amount or weight/drag so you need less speed to clear .
Youll go farther if you spin.
