Beginner Progression

So, I'm a pretty new skier, I usually just skied in trees or just straight downhill, but last season i've discovered park skiing. Next season I would like to get in to park/freestyle skiing, wether that be rails, spins, or jumps I just really want to get into it.

Ive only hit boxs and learned how to ski switch.

What should I learn next? I mean as in, "what tricks would someone need to know to be an intermediate park/freestyle skier?"

hit rails, front 2, blind 2, 360, sw 1, hit rails switch

if you can do all of these both ways then you are gonna be pretty well off and be able to go from there.

The important thing is do them both ways, if you learn 1 then try it unnatural right afterwards so you don't get to used to doing everything naturally.

Learn to slide boxes forward- then try rails. Jump wise- do 180's and then move to 3's. Then you can spin off and on rails with those.

All this above, but make sure you can practically slide a rail with your eyes closed, it makes learning the tricks so much easier. Long, flat tubes are best for learning swaps and spins out.

As an old man I feel that balance, confidence and strength are the keys to skiing well. So whatever you go do, just try to challenge yourself in what you are doing. Don't let what other people are doing be an impediment to your progress, and learn to bomb switch at 100 mph and you will be okay. Good luck man

Just fucking ski dude!

The more time you spend on snow is the best thing you can do for yourself. Repetition and constantly challenging yourself.

Everything falls into place with good core skills and imagination.

If you can't visualize yourself doing the "trick", you won't be able to do it.

^^^^ I agree with this. Just send it man, don't worry about having a set list of tricks that you need to check off in order to be a "good" park skier. If you want to get into park I'd say just get into it. Go through the park and do what you want to, do whats fun, thats what freestyle skiing is about. Just having a good time.

I agree just have fun and tricks will eventually come.

One thing everyone forgot is once you learn the basics of sliding rails you should try to master the lip on blind 2 which is the one trick that this whole community loves #theonlytrickintheworld
