I like rap music but music that is lyrically so garbage like a lot these new rappers doesn't deserved to be listed to and shouldn't be in edits. If the things they rap about are things that you actually value then idk what kind of life you're trying to live. I get the beats are fire and I smoke weed too big deal. Listen to music that elevates your mind. I do fuck w some east coast rap tho ie underachievers and joeybada$$. Sorry for the music rant.

If you have something about against a rapper actually talking about issues which affect millions of lives like drug use then chances are you don't like Kendrick for his lyrics, you like him because "omg it's kendrick". Seriously, Kendrick in his last album talked about the racial injustices in America, how is that any less preachy than Hopsin rapping about kids not having goals, religion or meth?

your thoughts on Kendrick are pretty tight. I'll give you that. Kendricks music does have more layers and substance. But what you're basically saying is that unless you can approach things from a multi layered perspective then your observations on social issues are "painfully obvious". Look at "fuck the police" isn't that painfully obvious? Or tupac in changes? You could put 99% of "conscious" songs into the painfully obvious basket. Because Kendrick is really the only rapper whose music is layered. Example "why did I weep when Trayvon Martin was killed in the streets, when gang banging made me kill a n***er blacker than me. Hypocrite."
But the fact that you have to link podcasts and reddit forums is laughable. It shows that you can't have an independent thought. "oh this forum said Hopsin sucks, well hopsin sucks from now on". "can't disagree with podcast man, he knows everything".

Fuuny thing is OP probably has never heard anything made before 99 other than some Wu Tang and Biggy/Pac ... No idea where those east coast new cats got their style from or what hip hop is really about lol. I could go from Rakim to Young Thug on shuffle and enjoy both equally. It's all about enjoying music. If you like Flatbush zombies you should checkout Gravediggaz flow wise or like Hieroglyphics content wise. Both some classic stuff. If you don't enjoy the new stuff coming out don't listen to it but I don't think you have a place in telling other people what to create or what to enjoy. :)

My bad on a typo in the past post. What I meant to say is that it's fine to take a high ground and be a commentator but the whole "better than thou" is preachy and annoying as fuck. Hopsin is someone who talks down to his audience and thinks hes above all "mainstream" rap and it's fans. An album that takes such a high-ground without being preachy and a judgmental asshole about it is ALL AMERIKKAN BADASS. Fucking amazing album.
Flow wise I think it's super obvious. I can't think of any specifically, but I can recall some songs that sound a lot like the flows em used on SSLP and MMLP. Ill look deeper when I get the chance. I think Lose Yourself is similar to the Song where Hop rap battled God but I could be wrong.
And yea his fans are the fucking worst, same with Em. Army of lower-middle class white boys addicted to mountain dew who think they're some how enlightened because they discovered atheism.
Personally I don't include the Migos into mumble rap because I can understand their lyrics and they really do have bars. Granted it's not deep as Kendrick but they have clever idioms and the way the three of them can transition into each others verses is impressive. Not to mention they came up out of a closet. They are the rap group that people will talk about in the future, because what they are doing is different and changing the game. Now rappers like Lil Yachty and Uzi Vert are actual mumble rappers because I can understand maybe 5 words in the song and half the time that's the chorus. Suicide Boyz sucks fuck depression rap. Rap is supposed to make you want to trap or think not slit your wrists.

The fact that people get so mind blown over any rap lyrics is crazy. Everything kendrick raps about everybody already knows. Everything jcole raps about everybody has already heard of. Everything hopsin raps about, well I agree hopsin is just stupid. But, the fact that people try to read into their shit makes you look dumb because there are people who are actually smart in this world and give speeches about research. Any college proffessor is undoubtedly more intelligent and harder working with more interesting things to say about the world, pushing it forward. All rappers do is make art. Thats it. We like to listen to their shit because it sounds fucking dope, makes us feel badass, chills us out, whatever. But its rap, its not blow your mind teach you about the world shit. You do that in school.

I love OG hip hop, its got soul, meaning sick flows. Wu Tang makes you feel like you're in the room right there smoking a blunt jamming with them. New age music also has its own vibe though the point is kind of just to lose your mind I think.
