Brule. Why the fuck is Hopsin included in the same category as Kendrick and Joey Bada$$? He's by far the cringiest rapper I've ever heard.

S.J.Wfuck do people have against hopsin? I rate his shit.
Brocka_FlockaLiterally him as a person. He's cringy and thinks hes this god like figure who's the sole-savior of hip-hop but is really a shitty Eminem rip off.
Brocka_FlockaDID THE MAN WHO INVENTED COLLEGE GO TO COLLEGE?
I'M MAD AT MY FRIEND FOR DOING DRUGS AND RUINING OUR RELATIONSHIP! IT'S ALL HIS FAULT! HE FUCKED ME OVER! HE DIDN'T DO ENOUGH TO STOP! HE DIDN'T THINK ABOUT ME!

S.J.Will mind of hopsin 6 was a great song. If you have something about against a rapper actually talking about issues which affect millions of lives like drug use then chances are you don't like Kendrick for his lyrics, you like him because "omg it's kendrick". Seriously, Kendrick in his last album talked about the racial injustices in America, how is that any less preachy than Hopsin rapping about kids not having goals, religion or meth?
Brocka_FlockaA few reasons here buddy, let's dive into them.
Kendrick approaches things from more dynamic approach. Look at Good Kid M.A.A.D City. Kendrick is rapping about the societal pressures that cause people to do things such as drugs and gang-bang. Kendrick not only has lived through the issues he is speaking on, but has done his research on them and dives into them from multiple view points.
Hopsin on the other hand just points at people and says, "wow, you do X, you're such shit and throwing your life away!" He has this holier-than-thou approach to his songs. Not only that, but his observations on social issues are painfully obvious to the point they are laughable. He's not bringing perspective like Kendrick is. Listen to this remix of Ill Mind 5 to see what I'm talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujfykqcpO-o.
Hopsin also goes around dissing any new rapper because they're "fake." Shit, he dissed Kendrick
Just beacuase your rap about social issues doesn't make your music "real" or "intellectual"

S.J.Wyour thoughts on Kendrick are pretty tight. I'll give you that. Kendricks music does have more layers and substance. But what you're basically saying is that unless you can approach things from a multi layered perspective then your observations on social issues are "painfully obvious". Look at "fuck the police" isn't that painfully obvious? Or tupac in changes? You could put 99% of "conscious" songs into the painfully obvious basket. Because Kendrick is really the only rapper whose music is layered. Example "why did I weep when Trayvon Martin was killed in the streets, when gang banging made me kill a n***er blacker than me. Hypocrite."
But the fact that you have to link podcasts and reddit forums is laughable. It shows that you can't have an independent thought. "oh this forum said Hopsin sucks, well hopsin sucks from now on". "can't disagree with podcast man, he knows everything".
It seems Hopsin has become an easy target for the masses to feel as though they are more "real" than the rest of the plebs who listen to hip hop. All the reasons people have listed are bullshit reasons that can be applied to anyone. wah wah he dissed rappers. oh his flow is a rip out, lol migos and future? Any number of other rappers with the same flow. He takes a moral high ground? Love how pissed off people get when people take a more high ground approach. Like no, you should rap about drugs, and woman. And gang banging.
you can dislike hopsin all you want, but it seems you've been sucked in by the hype around dissing a certain artist to give yourself some for cred. As proof by you linking multiple videos on the matter.
Brocka_FlockaLinking multiple videos doesn't show that I "can't have an independent thought" though I see how it can be taken that way. My main point was to show other people's perspectives. But ya know, attack me personally instead of debating music.
As for the music aspect however, you bring up a fair point with NWA. However, NWA knew they were pointing out simple issues. However, they didn't frame themselves as "saviors" so much as commentators. Yea a lot of "socially mindful" hip hop might be "painfully obvious", but it's delivered is such away that doesn't make it preachy or put the artist on this "holier than thou" platform.
As for your point about his disses, I should clear the water there. He dissed other artists solely because there was no other way for him to gain any sort of major attention. He had no reason to other than to get 15 seconds of fame. It was like what Soulja Boy has done, stupid and childish.
And for the "flow" biting, yea, flows get bitten all the time. But Hopsin has taken pretty much everything from Em: persona, content, rhyme schemes and even instrumental styles to the point that it seems as if he lacks originality. White contacts don't cut it.
As for your "pleb" point, it's pretty ironic actually considering 99% of Hopsin's listeners and fans are people who turn to him because they feel they are more "real" for listening to him as opposed to Migos or Drake. Drugs, women and money have always been a major part of music, especially rap. But that doesn't mean we're going to dismiss Joe Walsh now does it?
S.J.WI'm not going to debate music because debating music is pointless. You like that. I like this. I'm not forcing you to listen to my music, and you're not forcing me to listen to your music. Music is independent.
I will debate the reasons you don't like Hopsin. So how come when an artist takes the high ground it's preachy but if a rapper has the "better than thou" act, it's fine? Off course you're going to think you're the best thing to walk the earth. Because if you don't you'll get eaten up by the hate you get.
Fair enough on dissing other artists. I think it's kinda funny.
And for the flow, I just don't see it. Can you point out specific songs of hopsin's and ems that are pretty much the same?
And as far as hopsins fans. Let's be honest. Majority of white rap fans are embarrassing as fuck. Regardless of the musician. You seen Eminems fans? That shit is cringe worthy
Titus69Whatchu talkin bout op lil yachty and Kodak are the illest, new age rip is so best like fuck that 90s bullish.
Mr.BishopMan, I'm getting old.
Titus69Lol yeah bruh they way better than that old wu tang hip hop shit you love.
HA_ProductionsYou can say what you want about migos and future and yachty and all of them being "fun" to listen to but when people refer to them as "mumble rap" I think that says something. Also was talking to somebody who likes that kind of music and they referred to it as "shit rap". Also to the post above me yeah migos is slightly more understandable than rappers like future and yachty but they use the same lines in all their songs just in different orders. How many songs have they said "yeah dat way. I use to trap by the (insert place)" or rapping about trapping out the bando and cooking crack on on a stove

they get away with being rappers by just talking about depression lol
BdoobzWhat about RiFF RAFF
whoa-derelil peep is the goatest of all time lmao
HA_ProductionsI completely agree with this thread. Whats the point in listening to rap where you cant even understand half the words they're saying. For example this migos frestyle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-DoWD59W0E is literally the same lines just re ordered. I understand why people listen to it because no matter how drunk somebody is, they can always yell "Momma told me not to sell work". IMO though auto tune should of died with T-Pains career. Also you cant deny the flow of real rappers such as Underachievers, Joey Badass, Zombies is untouchable and impressive.
Rennis_Deynoldshe's probably gonna od in the next few months so don't get ur hopes up lol
