Aramad el rey, difference between 2014 and 2016 version
I want to buy a new all mountain ski for myself, and I think the armada el rey will suit my needs. I'm 182 cm tall, and I have two options:
get an el rey 2014 185 cm for 237 USD, or
get an el rey 2016 178 cm for 262 USD.
Is there any difference between the 2014 version and the 2016 version? If there is a difference, is it worth the 25 bucks? The height of the skis don't really matter, because I think both the 185 and the 178 would be good for me.
I've got a pair of the '16s and I absolutely love them. People tend to shy away from them because they are more aimed at beginner park skiers and their price is lower compared to most park skis. Honestly if you just want something to get the job done they are for you. They get super flexy after a few days of use and you really can't beat the amount of ski you get for the price.
My brother went through two pairs of el Reys. They're great flexible, durable skis. But some problems my brother faced was the side wall I believe what it's called popped off the core leaving exposed wood.
The ski remained unchanged for a long time by my understanding. I had the 09' model for my first pair of twins & loved how they skied.
Like the post above they do break in very well after skiing them hard for a week or so. They're extremely light underfoot and ride somewhat "traditionally" compared to your average rockered jib stick which is nice all around the mountain. Great nimble ski for a blend of park / all mtn
Ok, thank you guys, I'll get the 2016 version because i like how it looks better
