Does anyone have advice? Trying to make it look smoother than this, I'm also a little backseat, thanks

Carve the takeoff more, it gets dem shins into the boots and starts the spin more smoothly than a huck with the shoulders. Also, try tucking your knees and keeping your skis right together. Be sure to abang heavily.

yep, as you and the two replies said, you are a little backseat. fine on a little jump like that but will cause problems elsewhere

come in shoving your shins into the tongues of your boots, wide stance, leaning forward like youre about to tackle someone. keep that wide stance unless your grab necessitates changing that. you might also want to try carving into the spin a little bit

Contrary to the others in this thread, I'd suggest NOT trying to carve into it. It's "improper technique" in the world of aerial ski maneuvers and is best if you learn the "correct" way first. You'll more easily be able to learn other tricks if you can get straight take offs on lock. If you learn to 3 only by carving, that really limits your progression and you'll develop some funky habits.

And as for actual advice, engage with your hips. That spin came from your shoulders which explains why it was very upright and backseat. Come in with your knees bent a bit more and really pop off the lip like you would if you were sending a straight air. Then as your hips rotate, keep your body in the athletic position and it'll naturally follow your hips. If you can finish your set/pop and be in an athletic position by 180, you'll be putting grabs to it in no time.

Unless the other guys gave some qualifications, it's probably your best bet. However, more karma certainly doesn't mean more qualified to give advice.

That being said, I can say this is exactly what my coach would tell you.

was being coached last weekend on 360s and this really hit the nail on the head with what I was told. Dont carve into it - its not necessary for a 360. pop off the lip and lean forward etc etc

Try not to open your shoulders and dont look for your landing till about 270 degrees.

also going off of a bigger gap jump will be easier in terms of space/proper landings/everything

well, sure, but only if the other person doesnt claim that they are better than the person with the most karma. which i am

seriously though, opinions will vary on the carving vs non carving thing. the rest of what has been said, lean forward, tackling position, shove your shins into your boot tongues...that aint up for debate, definitely keep that all in mind. carving or not is up to you and what feels right

lead with your shoulders throughout the whole spin. other than that it looks pretty good.

take it to a bigger jump, add a grab and you'll be drowning in pussy

It seems weird to spin first with the hips, so do I just throw my hips instead of my arms/shoulders?

it's all about your core-- flex it and control the spin from there

If you are a beginner and someone tells you to carve into a 360 then its a great recipe for catching an edge

Sounds like this came straight out of noahs mouth haha. This is the right answer though.

Think of it as initiating the spin with your lower core rather than your upper body. If you initiate the spin from your center of gravity, you'll have a nice balanced 360. If you through it with your arms and shoulders, your gunna end up all wonkey.

Literally this forum is riddled with genius advice... I'm having the same problem. So basically if I understand you all correctly what I am supposed to do is smash forward my shins into the boots, and jump like a straight air, while I jump I am tightening my core and twisting moreso my core/hips (honestly to me it sounds like a thrust sort of in a 360 motion? So am I not supposed to turn or lead with my shoulders at all? I feel as if you wouldn't be able to spin quickly as a result?

If you initiate the spin properly you don't need to spin very fast to get it around. If you initiate too much with just your shoulders and head you will end up coming around ahead of your lower body and having to open up to stop yourself.

i might be reading too deeply into your use of "twist" but everything you said sounds great, but dont think of it as a twist. the point of flexing your core and initiating the spin from there is that your whole body is on the same page. if your upper or lower body gets separated from the rest of your body in the spin or tries to hurry it up too much, that's when you get backseat and pushed out of control

Ok ok that is great to know! I couldn't really figure out why sometimes I just was shoot shoot shoot I'm gonna over rotate and then eat it because I open myself and end up in a crappy form with a garbage 3 lol

I'd recommend working on getting grabs, also cork 3s are really fun if that's something you want to try.

yeah id def mess with grabs and cork 3s if youre feeling it

then id def say take it to 5. 5s are mad easy cause theyre just a 3 with a little more time to spot your landing and bring it around. landing switch is no big deal at all, your brain will handle it without even really asking you

and with 5s you can start really small too

around the same time id learn switch take offs. start with switch 180s then move to 3s. sw5s are considerably harder than those two in my opinion (but not that bad at all and theyre a super fun/popular trick)

key to switch tricks: don't try to spin too early. as you learn them by doing switch 180s youll realize you can really take it easy and not rush the spin

try to spot the moon(keep your head straight up)

Bro went up today and practiced some 3S and I ate it so many times...rotating with ur hips first is psyching me out idk why, I'm hella discouraged :(

best way to get help from us is vids! and youll learn just by watching yourself

if no vids, describe why and how you ate it so many times

in your original video you are a little backseat and rushing the spin, with your body straight up and down. my biggest suggestion is to get those feet way wider, hunch over a little bit, and flex your core and lead your spin with your core but also your hips and shoulders-- it should all be one package! and don't be on your right edges right before hitting the jump the way it looks like you were in the first vid-- thatll push you into that backseat, straight up and down position we're trying to avoid
