Shorter length helps. Also a shorter turning radius.

Out of personal preference, I like fully rockered or rocker/flat/rocker skis for tree use. For tight spots, it helps to be able to pivot super quickly. Not saying I don't love my JJ's for trees as well tho...

Yeah. Just saying a shorter ski will be less cumbersome. Shape and profile definitely make a bigger difference.
