Is Whistler Worth it?

Basically I live in Denver, but I've been seeing all these stories on here about how awesome Whistler is, and how much they've gotten dumped on in the early season.

Sounds like an overall awesome place. I'm a dual citizen so it's easy for me to re-locate...

What say you Newschoolers - should I move out to Whistler?

Whistler is definitely massive and a great mountain. I would suggest taking a trip out to see how you like it first before committing to move. Might be a little tough to find a place to live/work when the season has already begun as a lot of people relocate there for the winter.

Unless you know someone there with housing available it will be a serious struggle + everything is outrageously expensive! Whistler has been getting some pow other places have been getting alot more.
really depends on what you want to ride and how much $ you can afford.

yeah I mean I'm kind of more thinking next year if I go for it... taking a trip there is a good idea. I guess epic pass works there now too?

Hows the weather compared to summit?

epic passes don't work this season but we'll see if they implement it next year. At least they will likely split the cost of a season's pass in half down to $900 CAD

No epic pass works this year. You have 5 days on mountain no blackout.

it really depends on what you are looking for.

Lots and pros and cons to whistler... and most of the things on that list have nothing to do with snow.

Whistler has more of scene than other resorts. Its busy, the village is developed, its expensive, there are lots of chicks, prostitutes and drug can be easily procured. Its expensive. it also has awesome terrain and a great snow.

I tell two types of ppl to go to whistler;

- people looking to have a killer party on their ski vacation.
- people looking to get in on the scene.

If you aren't much for the "scene" , and don't care to party then there are lots of other places that have killer snow and terrain, are less busy and marginally cheaper.


I am not saying whistler is bad, or good. Its just different than most canadian resorts due to its size and level of urban development.
