Let me start this off by saying I used to be a big fan of on3p, I rode their skis for 2 years prior and this would have been the third so I'm not just hating. This is going to be a long ass thread so grab some popcorn and sit back... and hopefully learn from my mistake of trusting accountability from team riders and on3p because I know a lot of their riders sell on here.
So to start it off I bought a pair of On3p Prester off Jake Doan on March 28th, Jake told me the skis were like new with one mount and they came with a pair of pretty cosmetically beat up fks 140's but they worked perfectly physically.(he had me send the money to his wife)

So I got the skis no problem and gave them the quick look over and nothing seemed out of place, a few months passed because it was the middle of the summer and I was not touching the skis, then came the day when I sold the fks off them (personally I do not like the orange, too flashy that's why I sold them). So I go to pull the bindings off the skis and I first notice that the little metal bracket in one of the heel pieces is missing (pictured below)

Then I noticed that the skis had two mounts on them and the one that wasn't supposed to be there is right where I wanted to remount them, so at this point I am furious and go to text Jake about what he sold me-here is our conversation:

So basically he stopped texting me and started ignoring me, so I just tried to move on and I was able to still sell the bindings to someone for $115 and yes of course they knew about the part missing and there exact condition.

The more I thought about what happened the more mad I got, so I decided to email On3p and tell them what happened hoping there would finally be some accountability given. I explained to them what happened and I even sent them all the screenshots and info I had. After what seemed like my interrogation they said they would look into it. To add insult to injury throughout the whole thing they never apologized or said I'm sorry for a representative of there company ripping me off . A week or two passed and they emailed me asking if I had an update and of course Jake was not responding so I had none. Then after that they just stopped emailing so I was just shit out of luck and still am.

I was not going to make this thread but with winter approaching and the skis being more valuable as fire wood than skis to me I figured loosing that $260 should be a lesson I learned and shared with everybody. Don't trust Team riders and look over your gear with a super fine tooth comb even if it means pulling off bindings. Also don't ever trust a company to pull through and do the right thing (especially On3p).

TLDR: Jake Doan screwed me over by selling me a pair of skis not as described then when asked to correct his bad decision he refused making excuses. Then when going to On3p and telling them a representative of their Company and Brand ripped me off they made no apology and pretty much ignored the issue.

I've never dealt with Jake but I have dealt with Kutcher. Every time has been awesome and I was stoked to get a pair of skis from a great company and a badass skier. Even just emailed him last week about a pair of pow sticks. OP you're a dumbass, Jake made a minor mistake and you blew it THE FUCK up, and then tried to still flip it for a profit. Shame on you

MinggAlso pretty shady to include ON3P in this. You didn't buy from them and their skis aren't the issue. They don't owe you a damn thing and saying they're a terrible business for not giving your entitled ass anything is lame as fuck.


I believe he did get ripped off because he received some shady ass gear that was not as described. Additionally, it is not shady to include ON3P in this because Jake IS a representative of the company as a sponsor and if Jake isn't taking shit to terms then who else is the OP going to turn to? His employer and partner.

I don't see how he's entitled by any means - however I do agree with you that OP is in no means to call ON3P a terrible business - maybe terrible costumer supporter and training with their sponsors regarding representation of the company.

Lastly, by dealing with kids, especially orange names and reps over Newschoolers, and subsequently such members fuck normal riders (not sponsored - kids like you and me) fucks the legitimacy of B/S/T and NS trading.


Come on Mingg, i thought you would have better insight of NS and park skiing culture in general. /iamdissapoint

while i wont deny that but conversely
you will have a hard time finding most anyone having other than positive things about iggy and his product over there.
mostly cause he handles his presence very professionally as evidenced in this thread
the tgrz is very much a reap what you sow community and we dont give prohoe fanboi passes or colored names
oh and in my 2 decades of shop work most broken core skis are in front of the toe
or tails
and very few mismounts cant be rectified by a competent tech and sum helicoils

he is sponsored skier, not a rep. who deals in selling skis for a company. his personal skis are part of his pay and Jake is entitled to do whatever he wants with them if turning skis into money to pay for life, still has nothing to do with on3p. its implied that selling used gear is a risk no matter who you deal with. _salty_ clearly stopped communicating when he didn't get what he wanted so he tried to get jake fired/repremanded. Jake could have attempted to get ahold of _salty_ parents and achieve the same thing, them going "its his money not our problem" or whatever.

_salty is being entitled because he expects a used gear selling forum to have a full refund like from a full retail shop there are multiple stickies that explain the risk involved. again ON3P job is to sponsor skiers who make skiing look cool and show off the product. they probably don't have a training session titled "how to sell used gear and not make us look bad" but who knows maybe now they will have one.

orange names are just people who have worked their asses off in the industry doesnt mean they are on a higher pedestal then the rest of us "normal skiers" they have to eat too. so one kid goes postal and makes a call out thread/ well we should never trust orange names or the B/S/T forum again. perfect logic.

Park skiing culture? buying cheap skis online so they can be flipped for profit on the same site? yeahhhh right tell me more how _salty_ is the embodiment of NS culture and Jake who is risking his body/equipment/time to produce content for our consumption is just a pro who is abusing his orange name power to fill his pockets and NS a shittier place.

moral of the story is this is an epic shit show that could have been delt with out the thread and getting multiple companies involved.

How the fuck can you completely glaze over the fact that Jake blatantly lied about one of the most important factors when selling used gear? He conned the kid, intentional or not. Yes, there are risks with buying used gear but that does not make the seller any less guilty of his shitty actions. Let's at least acknowledge that before we analyze all of _salty_'s stupid moves once he wasn't respected in the first place.

You are so wrong here it is absolutely absurd. If he had purchased the skis directly from on3p here you might have a point, but as it is you are dead wrong. You are also literally the only person defending him contacting on3p here. That should tell you something.

The worst transgression here is the op trying to flip the skis. Jake should have been accurate but trying to flip skis when you have gotten a bro deal won't fly in the mountain town, which is where the op might move after college or high school. If he had done this in Tahoe he would have been blacklisted pretty fast, and it is a small community.

I tried not to rip the op too hard, he is in high school after all, but he is being entitled and childish. And to include on3p in this is absurd on a ridiculous level. On3p is not a partner with Jake in terms of distributing skis, so this has nothing to do with them. If part of Jake's job was to distribute skis you would have a point, but he is no different than anyone else selling skis on the internet. He was giving the kid what was a good deal, regardless of the holes (which should have been disclosed) and the op should have appreciated that. He should not have contacted them and doing so is either stupid or childish, maybe both.

He is lucky On3p is even talking to him. If he had gotten skis from Sean Petit do you think K2 would even respond?

Don't mean to thread jack but this just happened to me 5 minutes ago. Salomon suspects mounted with Griffons dead center. Just bought a brand new pair of Kartel 108's (coming tomorrow and I can't wait) so I was taking the griffons off so they can get put on the new Kartels. Only to find the shop fucked up and mounted them in the wrong spot on the suspects, so they moved them (stripping all the screws in the process) and filled the holes. Wouldn't have been too pissed if they would've told me when i got them mounted, skis are now going to my little brother. But finding out 2 years later is total bullshit. Saving the name of the shop because they have done genuine work for me in the past, but just livid. On mobile, so if it sounds like Helen Keller wrote this I apologize.

1. It does not feasibly matter if the drilled holes were mounted or not. Holes compromise the ski regardless.

2. _salty_ couldn't use the skis as is because his boots didn't fit. He needed to remount and these existing unmentioned holes could very well be a problem.

3. Just because FKS hole patterns are narrow does not make this less of an issue. Skis break across the middle. Lining up holes side to side makes this plane weaker. The fact that there is limited flex under a binding (if thats where these holes end up) is the only reconciliation.

4. Plugging holes (with glue) right away helps because it prevents moisture coming in and weakening the core.

5. Not listing all the mounts is one of the worst moves to do as a seller. _salty_ received a product that was significantly different than advertised. A refund should have been offered no matter how good the seller thought the deal was.

6. Trying to flip skis for more than you paid on NS, while not advertising the defect that you are so concerned about is the absolute shittiest move to do as a seller. Right or wrong, it makes everyone lose sympathy for you.

We all need some quick cash and we all want new skis so I understand why people sell their used gear. But if someone is paying you a real amount of money (over 50 or 100 bucks) for used ski equipment it better be described perfectly with no surprises at all.


Still though I have found such amazing equipment for so ridiculously cheap brand spanking new that its hard to fathom people paying over 100 bucks for used shit. I got my Shiro 203s shipped for 3 bones off TGR. All my high din bindings were over half off MSRP. Saw some piste skis I wanted in a shop in Whistler that were a good deal with the exchange and nice 18 din bindings maybe 750 US out the door and when I looked on ebay I found them with solid 13 dins for 399 shipped. I ski hard I know I wouldn't want my old skis.

If you're willing to be a bit patient and a bit flexible in what you want, there are major deals to be had all over the place.

How is a shop supposed to know the difference between holes that were mounted and ones that were just drilled? 10 something years ago I was a certified marker tech.. I'm no expert but your last two posts have basically been BS

For sure. I just got a board I've always wanted for 120 on ebay brand new. It's a 4 or 5 year old model as if that matters.

Stoked on the savings. I have trouble finding boots I want more than a season old but have still gotten deals before though might buy new through a rep at the mountain this year.

If I could buy a 2+ year old model of everything for cheap I would.

The one missing piece of the story...why does he need this money? It's obvious. He needs to fund his building of the next free ski super robot, aka JASPER Tjader, the perfected version of the already robotically engineered masterpiece Jesper Tjader.
