snowpeckMarijuana affects a lot of people in different ways. Honestly, the best way to know is to try. Just don't do it too often. Try to do it only on very special occasions. Focus more on school then on weed. Just look up the long term affects of marijuana. Google will do a much better job then me.
Lé.Skiingwe need cannabis for part of a healthy diet.
dootThere is scientific evidence that an extreme amount of marijuana use causes a drop in IQ, but that's if you're smoking like, a shitload daily.
Also, smoking anything is bad for your lungs, if that's something that concerns you. Smoking a joint doesn't hurt you nearly as much as smoking cigarettes, but if you're planning on running a marathon, find a different way to ingest weed.
The smoke also might have carcinogens, but changes are you're aight. Also don't plan on trying to get anybody pregnant because it fucks up your sperm for a bit.
And yeah, you can become dependent on it over time, but chances are you won't become addicted, as that's super rare.
Those are just the bad effects. They exist, but there are good effects too, so make your own informed decision.
I wouldn't do it daily or ingest it by smoking it that often, just to be safe.
Gods_FatherCan you find the study that concludes smoking marijuana causes decreased lung capacity?.....because the largest study ever done on the subject concluded that smoking marijuana actually increases lung capacity. Sounds like you aren't aware that tons of marathon and triathlon athletes smoke marijuana haha.
DayManYou can't actually argue that smoking weed is good for your lungs.. Have you never taken too big of a hit and coughed your lungs out and felt like you were going to die? Vaping obviously doesn't have any negative effects but actually inhaling hot smoke is damaging to your lungs regardless of what is making that smoke.

CheddarJackLolololololol I'm sorry but that's such a load of BS
TheHamburglarI wouldn't say vaping doesn't have any negative fx, it can still irritate the respiratory system and cause breathing problems like pneumonia and COPD. Source: Me, lifelong asthmatic and vape enthusiast. Things like good diet and exercise minimize these issues, but vaping can still cause issues.

dootYou're not totally wrong. I've heard of athletes smoking it, but no marathoners or triathletes, although I'll look into it. You're right about lung capacity, and that it's nowhere near tabacco. But bronchitis is still a concern, and cancer with heavy use.

So yeah, I wasn't fully correct in that claim. My bad. I'm also for marijuana legalization, I just think people should be aware of the downsides of it, too.
DayManAgreed, but still very minimal compared to real smoke.
Also are you talking about vaping weed or are you one of those people who walks around blowing clouds and bragging about your new box mod?
theabortionatorOnly losers smoke drugs
Gods_FatherNo, according to all major studies done, smoking marijuana does not cause lung cancer.
californiagrownSo are you claiming that Weed does not cause cancer? Or are you saying that large, well controlled studies are needed to investigate? Because large well controlled clinical studies have NOT taken place yet.
Also, NORML doesnt paint that safe of a picture: http://norml.org/component/zoo/category/cannabis-smoke-and-cancer-assessing-the-risk
Gods_FatherWhat are you talking about? There have been major studies that concluded smoking cannabis does not cause cancer. Check the international journal of cancer.

250rAny form of smoke is going to be carcinogenic...
Gods_FatherNot according to the studies...
DayManYou keep quoting these studies but can't seem to actually provide a source
Gods_FatherCheck the international journal of cancer. Check the proceedings of the national Academy of Sciences for evidence that smoking cannabis does not lower iq.
Lé.Skiingbut apparently the best thing is to eat the raw untreated plant.
.frenchyit's a gift from god
Lé.SkiingIf you smoke cannabis you're less likely to get cancer than someone who doesn't smoke./QUOTE]
At what dosages? They do not mention how inhaling combusted organic matter affects health. Nor were the tests carried out with smoke. You are making claims unsupported by fact.
There needs to be large scale controlled trials done before we can start drawing conclusions. Till then we can just say that certain trials and research point to certain beneficial properties.
MIHoodlumYes, most weed kills motivation. A seasoned weed smoker can deal with it.
spliff.Lifeit would be cooler if it were a gif from god
Gods_FatherNot according to the studies...
Hugh_Conway_jrwhat studies are you looking at bro?
Its the products of incomplete combustion, unburnt hydrocarbons. They cause the cancers. Found in any and all smoke, from wood to weed.
Exposure profiles and study methodology aside, its a straight up fact.
That's why you vape.
Gods_FatherThe study from the international journal of cancer concluded smoking cannabis does not cause lung cancer and they believe the anti cancer properties of cannabis have something to do with it. Do you actually know anyone who has lung cancer from smoking weed? Do willie Nelson and snoop dog have lung cancer?
Hugh_Conway_jrSo true story .. everyone I know who has lung cancer that smoked weed had other comorbidities. Like the also smoked tobacco or had an occupational exposure... and Its actually hard to pin people down based on their recreational drug use history... another benefit to legalization / decriminalization is that it will improve the accuracy of this type of data.
I believe the research shows that the anti inflammatory properties of cannabis cease around the 7 year mark... in that the negative effect of the unburnt hydrocarbons are no longer counteracted by the anti inflammatory properties.
Just because some people don't have any health issues doesn't mean that no one will. despite the hype, Weed is not some kind of magic tonic cure all that has no side effects... I am not harshing it, I smoke too. But its dangerous to assume that its not without consequence. Remember, Oxy was touted as being side effect free, non addictive. There was research to support it.... and plenty of people used it without getting addicted / ruining their lives... Food for thought.
