Ski Width Help Needed

Start off by giving my stats, i'm 6'1 ish and 170 lbs (yah im skinny i know). Im currently riding on a pair of atomic infamous (86mm waist). I live in Vancouver Canada, they work great for the local mountains, that isn't super deep powder most of the time. But taking them up to Whistler on a good powder day and things get a lil tricky. I ski 40% park 60% all mountain.

So this year i'm deciding to add a 2nd ski to my quiver, a wider powder ski. My question is, what kind of width is noticeable and what should I be aiming for when looking at skis? Is 102mm to small and not worth it?

I've been trying to look at stuff between 107-115.

PS, consider i'm on a budget and already blown to much on new boots :P

102 is way to skinny, you're going to be looking at a 112+ for a pow ski. I'd look at the JJ 2.0s from armada if I were you. Amazing groomer performance and with the 117 waist, it's super floaty.

He isnt looking for a ski just for shredding ak spines. It depends on how good of a skier you are, I love my Rossignol slats they are 98 waist but float great and they are great no matter what your skiing on.

It really depends on your style of skiing, there is a billion powder/all mtn skis out there but to narrow it down you need to give us something. Do you like to ski really fast and charge hard through crud or are you more of a jib and butter the whole mountain type of skier.

As for ski width unless your skiing only deep pow anything over 115 is unnecessary imo. With the current technology a lot of skis even near the 100 underfoot mark will still kill it stuff thats not too deep.

I'd personally beg to differ as far as 110 being to wide. The JJ is my go to ski for whatever the condition is. It'll go anywhere and do pretty much anything. Hell last season I rode my 124 magnum opus almost as much as any other ski in my quiver. It honestly just comes down to personal preference and the type of skis your looking at. It's milimeters we're talking about not inches so the difference isn't that much.

If I was in your situation, I would go with something pretty wide. (~110mm +)

I just got a pair of JJ's but ski a little less park than you do.. I would look at On3p Jeffery, Line Mordecai and Revision Subtraction. All around 115mm (wouldn't buy a ski that is under 108 or over 120mm). Those skis that i just listed are pretty jibby but if you want a charger ski with some play look into the JJ or Bents

I really love my Kartels and Jeffrey's from ON3P. I have the Kartel 106 and the Jeffrey 114, which have now been updated to the Kartel 108 and the Kartel 116. Id really recommend either of those skis.

I also like 4FRNT. You could look into the YLE, Kye 110/120, Inthayne, or Devastator.

At your height/weight id get some skis in the mid 180 range.
