Well, the season hasn't even ended for some lucky few out in CO and UT, but DPS has already teased us with a picture of a new pair of skis. Looks VERY different than what they normally produce.

I tried a pair of the 130 Ghosts, really did not love them... :/ but I have the '18 QST Pro 130 TR and those are dope haha. have you tried those?

No but I find there is a big difference in flex when comparing a boot with a walk mode to one without it.

Those look like a Salomon version of the Trab TR2's. Toe piece looks identical except the Solly looks maybe plastic? If they get the heel right (step in) these could be killer. The TR2's require you to hold the heel open to step in.

Maybe this is a new Ghost. Don't recall a black one, unless it's an older Ghost 110. But Jeremie Heitz doesn't strike me as someone who skis a 110.

I talked to a buddy about these the other day, he went to the Salomon/Atomic HQ a few months back for a meeting about the new bindings. He's supposed to be getting a pair later this year and gonna let me test them and provide feedback. Supposedly going to blow Kingpins out of the water. They are a mix between a tech and alpine binding. They have pin capabilities for the uphill, but when its time to actually ski them, youre locked into the binding like an alpine toe. Elastic travel in both toe and heel so you dont have the same harsh ride as you would in a normal tech binding. Looks like a pretty solid system that they have been working on for quite some time.

I wouldnt go as far as to say that, CAST just re-engineered the existing components of the pivots and still requires you to carry the separate toes around. These salomons were built from the ground up and all you have to do is flip a lever on the toe and youre in hike mode.

If not, it sounds like you could do a CAST boot-mod and use an alpine boot.

I imagine onenerdykid will explain more once he is allowed to.

I'll be curious as to if it is more metal or plastic. Pictures look like plastic. I imagine if it's metal it'll be quite heavy. If it's plastic, per usual there will be durability question marks.

Nothing will replace the satisfying snap of an FKS/Pivot 18 or STH16.

I can’t recall a black ghost, but if this is a new ghost it’s def something to be excited about, they fit my diet quite well when I tried them on a few years back but ended up staying in spks due to my feet still growing and I figured I’d go with ghosts eventually. Definitely interesting stuff

Anybody buy Look Pivots lately? Ordered mine with pro-deal about 6 weeks ago and nothing still. In Denver, CO. Apparently they had a recall on some produced in July of this year or something. Starting to lose faith at this point ...

From what I heard it sounds as though it wont require use of pins on the downhill, it also sounds like it is mostly plastic but I wouldnt be worried about strength issues. With the new technology lately plastic is getting stronger and lighter.

Saw these on Cody's ig story yesterday. Definitely not the same boots as Jeremie is riding and they don't look like anything in the current lineup, so maybe Salomon is doing a bit of a revamp idk

Those are the boots that were custom made by Cody when he and a few other Salomon athletes went to the HQ in France.

Think he has had em for a few seasons.

Agree. Love my QST 118's but if they made a similar ski just more freestyle oriented and a little more playful would much rather ride those.

Same. I feel like it’s gotta just be the top sheet. No idea why he’d be on a ~1300 g ski, and with Pivots...

yeah but that is *not a hip-dragging carving ski. It has a stated weight of 1220 g for the 172. It's a full-on ultralight skimo ski. The only thing I can think of is that it's a proto park ski (88 mm waist would make sense) and that's just the top sheet they decided to put on it. But who knows.

If they were made with the same idea in mind that they made the other tracer skis I would be on that so fast. I see why it would be attractive, i appears to have a greater effective edge, less of that nose rocker and and more forgiving/ easier to release tail. Invictus is great and all, but if I wanted a full on groomer ski I would probably look to another company that has deep racing roots. That’s just the old man in me speaking.

Not the cat but it is one ofnext seasons models. We were up skiing all the new gear in whistler this week for sales meetings. Wait until you guys see the new boots.

As for the solly binding me and Lee Lau are working on the review so look out for that hopefully after SIA

If it's replacing the pro, that'd make it, what, 1500 grams for a boot+liner?

If it's the regular boot, that'd make it, what, 1730 grams?

That top puts it on par with the MTN Lab, Zero G Guide Pro, and Hawk Ultra XTD.

Between those morons and wildsnow I can't wait to read a couple retyped press release with an extra 2000 words of shifty filler, lip service and double digit IQ speculation posing as a contribution to the ski community.



Since its not made by Dynafit, wildsnow might hold some of the lip service in favor of pinched nose discussion about how it weighs to much to be a real touring binding despite coming in lighter than another binding which he hailed as a game changer.

Next season sees the replacement for the spyne boot. The weight is low like mid 1600g for a 26. They ski so well too. Better I would say then the current models.

The pinnacle stays the same but updates are on the way a couple of years from now.
