Achilles tendonitis is a bitch

I have been dealing with extreme tendonitis in both heels. Got it checked out by the doctor, he told me to take some time off. So I took 5 days off from skiing, went back out and the pulsating pain returned on the first run. My boots have been nothing short of perfect for 75+ days of skiing over the last two years.

Could my boots be packed out? maybe my technique changed? I want to know what caused this in the first place so I don't have to miss time next season.

I am very frustrated, I know I should probably call it a season so I don't risk ruptures or tears. Sick of skiing around like an old man. Been stretching and using foam rollers... Any advice on how to treat this or what caused it?

I feel your pain man I've been dealing with bad tendinitis for weeks now
The solution that I used was to try and take up as much volume in the boot i.e. Put in foot beds made for your feet you can get them at any ski shop and ask them if they have any volume reducers they're basically just foam pads shaped to fit in a boot to take up volume
After Putting those + the foot bed I can honestly say my tendinitis has improved a great deal
I would try that out and talk to your local shop boot fitter about any other ways to fix it but that should be a good start

Try rolling out your calves with a tennis ball. Hit them from the sides and right down the middle. Stop in tight spots but don't role onto the tendon. Relieving tension in your calves will help relax the tendon. I do this every night during my prime cycling season just for prevention and maintenance

Take a few weeks off and hope for some good spring days. Unless you're getting paid to train for the Olympics, blowing out your Achilles' tendon is not worth it.
