whats up Newschoolers I dont know if anyone has made this yet so Im starting a thread to ramble, bitch and discuss academics Especially high schoolers taking midterms. For some reason this years finals are gonna be pretty hard and I'm feeling pretty negatively about the whole thing. Stressin about college and what Im gonna do after high school. Right now Im sitting at about a 3.0 GPA and I don't think thats good enough for some of the things I want to do in life. Not sure if ya'll are feeling the same but school has got me down. How you guys feeling about school and all that shit?

I fucked up last semester and got a c+....it dropped my gpa to a 3.2....so now I need a 3.8 next semester...gunna be working my ass off it looks like.

I just bullshitted 7 journal entries, 2 chem labs, and 4 CNC coding datasheets. hopefully my teachers see that its late and throw a 90 on all of them, because its F across the board if they actually read them.

Being in college now I have come to the realization that if only I actually studied in high school I could have done a lot better. Seriously take a few minutes a night to review notes from class or from the textbook. Come test day your stress might not be gone, but it will be much lower.

Im a private school freshman and i worked my ass of to maintain a 3.6ish GPA. It's painful but I still get three hours of racing after school so it balances life out.

Everyone in my high school complains and complains and complains about school, tests, midterms, etc.

It pisses me off so much. Honestly, if you're relatively smart and have good time management skills, HS is a joke.

4.017 baby (A in AP classes). School is something that is just not to difficult for me. Put in the work and it wont be to difficult. I will also never get why people don't try at all in school and think its cool to fail classes

For real...I can count the assignments I did my senior year on my hands...and I still got a 3.8 overall. It is stupid easy. Although it would have helped to learn how to study before college.

Maybe I just matured a lot over summer, I'm taking chemistry, biotechnology, Algebra 2, literature, and a couple electives. So its not like I'm taking easier classes. Just thought that was strange.

Get out of school at 1:45 everyday next semester. Going to ski a ton.

I went to a really hard high school where I worked super hard and was focused mostly on work but because of that when I got to college I just chilled and get mostly A's now because of how intensely prepared I was. Basically high school is gonna suck no matter what unless you've deciphered the social system (which I did not), so might as well put your head down and work hard. That way you get into a good college, you're prepared for college, and then you can relax a little bit and still get a great education. Also not a single job has asked for my college grades yet.

If the whole college thing isn't for you then do whatever you want and follow your passions, but make sure that's a long term decision and not just a whimsical short term response to current angst. It's always good to have as many options as possible, and by fucking around in school and not going to college you greatly limit your future options

I got algebra 2 pre IB, spanish, german, advanced composition, physics IB, Welding, world history and principles of engineering. I went ham yesterday and today and finished all my projects and assignments for the semester. now i just got to study but if i get as on all my finals ill still get a 3.0 GPA just becauise finals are 10% of your final grade so unless your on the edge it wont affect it. And i got an 85% in most of my classes and the 2 C's i got are countered by my two A's

Lol we have monday and tuesday off but Im going in to beg my teachers to accept the two quarters worth of schoolwork I'm going to do over the weekend and take all five math tests I skipped this quarter. Just got the last of my college apps sent in so basically how I manage my time this weekend will decide if I get into the college of my choice or not. Right now Im sitting on a 2.9 and have met my goal of doing 5 assignments or less a school yr at home and never studying for a test at home. Sadly have to break that streak this weekend. On another note idk if anyone else is taking IB HL History of the americas but I highly recommend it. We're basically unlearning all the bullshit propaganda American history and learning the real shit with A Peoples History of the United States by Howard Zinn among other texts.

One thing that I've learned through my two years of college is that it's incredibly important to study what interests you. If your path in life requires a college education, go to college, and absorb as much information you possibly can. Preferably information you're actually interested in learning about.

I'm dropping out after I finish this semester and moving out west to be able to rock climb more, but I'm currently majoring in photography and creative writing. I've flip flopped a few times since I started college, but you need to know that it's okay to do that. And it's okay to wait to go to college until you for sure know what you want to do.

I'm taking a year or two off, until I am able to get in-state tuition at whatever college offers both photography and creative writing. I'm okay with that. I'm going to work as much as humanly possible during the fall and winter months so I can take off all of spring and summer to go travel around the U.S and truly experience all that nature has to offer me.

It took my experiential education teacher 20 years to get his bachelor's degree. He's an incredibly cultured guy that loves life, and knows what he wants to do. He applies what he learned as a rock climbing guide and his years of traveling to the way he teaches.

But referring to the topic of your thread, I'm going to have an incredibly easy but fun semester, though finals and all that jazz have never been much of a worry to me.
I'm currently taking Black and White Film Photography(Totes thought it was a digital photography class so I had to get early birthday presents of all the equipment I need for the class, but I can't wait to learn how to shoot with a film camera and develop film), Beginning Poetry Workshop, Aerobic Conditioning, Yoga, and Intro to Experiential Education.

Took a stupidly hard course load this year, 2 AP, 4 Honors, and one required non-honors class. Been studying my ass off, i slept like 12 hours this whole week because of finals. Current GPA is a 4.41 though, and I couldn't be more happy! I'm not trying to claim, but I am really proud of my work. Stress sucks, but if you keep the payoff in mind, and that fact that you get to ski and have a ton of fun after the hard work, its all good. Moral of the story: stress blows, but the feeling you get from working hard at something and getting the results you wanted is so worth it

To anyone in high school right now, you gotta chill. If you start telling yourself that shit is hard and impossible, you're gonna fuck yourself over real good in the long run. Take breaks, have fun, learn how to study the right way. When(if) you go to college, you're going to look back and regret stressing so much over dumb things. I know that I thought school was the most important thing in high school, which is a little true, but the way I stressed about it was completely unnecessary. I wish I would have taken more time to be a kid.

Things will get harder... much harder and I don't mean that in a way that scares you. I was one of those kids in high school who never studied and had a 4.0 without a whole lot of effort. Coming to college was even difficult for me because I never learned how to study, barely did homework and still was doing great. Hell, my roommate was a solid B student in HS but she studied hard throughout HS and knew how to study. She ended up with a better GPA than me first semester. So in a way I wish I would have tried harder in HS to set me up better for college. Even though I had an excellent GPA, it didn't mean a whole lot coming up. I don't care who you are, if you don't pay attention or study like you're fucked. You can make that shit work in high school but it doesn't work here.

So keep working hard in high school but don't get down on a bad grade or two. It's good to want to do well.. that's really good actually but if you mess up thats okay too. You're going to be stressed in college, so try to relax a little bit while you can. Don't miss out on a good part of your life because of school and bullshit. You all are going to kill it in one way or another. As stupid as a lot of people come across on the internet, you guys are pretty rad and smart. So quit stressing, I know you guys got it!

Definitely not stressed. I literally never get stressed for tests and shit, but even when I study a lot, I always do mediocre on tests.. My memory is garbage and it really hurts when the education you are getting revolves around recall and recognition instead of intellect.

now to the rant:
Its gay as fuck that argumentative essays have a rubric where citations are like 70% of the grade or some shit. This is writing class, I dont get why they give the work that you put in a low worth compared to the stuff you literally just copy/paste in. My teacher couldnt give me a good answer to this. Am I the only one who thinks making your own examples is worth more than picking some citation from someone else?

yea im starting to feel the stress im at a 4.2 gpa, but i havent done that much work, i just have an easy time of doing things well quickly. last year i was really motivated and studied hard, but this year i feel like ive lost that, and i have a hard time staying on task. any suggestions?
