Sore throat/dry cough remedies

Tonight i am going to a Secret Sesh (to those who are familiar) with wu tang performing, obviously there will be copious amounts of smoking and drinking. Two days ago i picked up this stuffy nose, sore throat, dry cough type of sickness and its the worst for going to an event like this. Been dosing myself with neocitran, advil cold and sinus, and tea.

Ive looked around online like any normal person would do, just curious if anyone on here has something that generally helps. Just want to be able to make it through the night without a burning death throat the whole time.

Recovering from a cold right now, believe it or not rubbing vick's on your feet makes coughing cease. No idea why, but trust me it works.

Gargle around salt water. Another really good one is vinegar and honey combination and swallow it. Helps break up material and sooth's your throat. Feel better!

Also if you're cool with it neti pots really work for clearing out your nose. I'm ok with them but a lot of people are really uncomfortable with it.

Hot Toddies for days

Mix 2oz or more of Scotch whisky, 1 table spoon of honey, 4oz of hot water 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
put it in the microwave until piping hot (not boiling) add a slice of lemon and get drunk while fighting the sore throat.

Can you tell i'm scottish? whatever ails you, alcohol is the solution.

go to the doctor and tell them its the worst sore throat of your life and youre in a lot of pain. Then you will receive penicillin and hydrocodone and be cured.

I am just now recovering from the yearly Flu and once again it has been Mucinex that has come to my rescue. When you cough until you lose your voice you need some help and this product is wonderful. I have used it for several years now and would never be without it. I have found it is the only product that helps you bring up and get rid of mucus during an illness

Hot water with lemon, honey and fresh ginger usually makes me feel better. Similar idea to neocitron which also seems to help. Also gargling warm salt water or listerine helps a sore throat. Feel better!

I like to eat a tiny bit of honey, doesn't "have" to be the really fancy, expensive and organic kind, just try to get one that is 100% honey, there are some that are legit just flavored sugar.
Warm salt water gargle too, someone else said that. It might help, cheap and worth a try.
Peppermint oil, not to take or anything, just as aromatherapy, or Vicks.
There are also these dissolvable tablets you can put in your shower that are eucalyptus and something else to clear your sinuses. I can't remember exactly what brand, but I've used them before, they're pretty soothing, you can find them at a drugstore, pretty cheap.

I don't need to tell you but obviously alcohol and smoking will irritate your throat and respiratory system respectively, so maybe avoid those. Also, if you're going to drink, make sure you haven't been taking any medication that can't be mixed with alcohol. Some meds metabolize and are out of your system quicker than others so read the labels carefully!

I get a sore throat at least once a month, I get rid of it using earl grey tea with a lot of honey and a pinch of lemon. Be gone within 2 days!
