_Ryan_Does anybody like you?
_Ryan_To anybody open minded and fairly sound in the mind i would strongly recommend you research psychedelics for treating and curing anxiety, depression and fear of anything really... I specifically refer to Mushrooms and DMT, though i lean strongly toward the safeness of mushrooms. They allow you to go to what i would characterize as an inbetween life and death state.. really puts everything into perspective and gives you this insane appreciation and comfortableness with the world around you. A close friend of mine says he is physically incapable of feeling anxiety/depression after a few DMT doses... My few experiences with mushrooms have completely revitalized and re invented my life, anxiety is barely even existent in my life. For me it feels like a slight elevation in consciousness.. at least thats how i'd describe it. If you are open minded enough to consider i would strongly recommend ample amounts of research before embarking, definitely not something to be taken lightly. Other than drugs i find being outside and expressing myself in some sort of creative way helps me.

SFBdoing hard drugs while depressed is one of the dumber things ive heard
S.J.WShrooms, acid, DMT are not hard drugs. They are pretty much harmless. And there has been actual research into the benefits of psychedelics for depression.
http://www.theguardian.com/science/2015/mar/05/psychedelic-drugs-like-lsd-could-be-used-to-treat-depression-study-suggests
SFBacid and dmt arent hard drugs? what?
S.J.WIf you're going to to look at the harmful effects of acid and DMT. No, they're not hard drugs at all. Cigarettes and beer are more harmful than acid and DMT. If you're going to look at the psychological effects like addiction than cigarettes and beer are still more harmful. DMT, acid, shrooms are pretty much harmless, unless you get a bad trip.
.lenconIM sure some of those numbers come out like that because alcohol is used more than mushrooms by far.
S.J.WNumber of users was not taken into account when the findings were published. And it doesn't really have an impact as the study found how harmful they were was based on 20 different factors. It wasn't like alcohol is the most dangerous because it has the most cases. It was on a drug by drug basis

chicknfriedsteakDoes that graph factor in percentage according to a number of people, or is it just overall? The data is useless if you don't account for availability and percentage of users.

Download-My-AppsYes, there is evidence of certain situations where psychedelics have benefits, but thats in a controlled lab or with a doctor. Self medication with recreational drugs and metal illness can be extremely harmful. Unless you're a doctor or have a phd in the subject, you might want to tread lightly when passing on this information.

I don't know yours or your friends' situation with anxiety, but others who have mental illness may be at a much more fragile state than yourself, and may not have the ability to limit or determine what is the appropriate dosage not to mention that there may be no consistency in the drug depending on the dealers sources.
Bonzalo^^^
Lol'd at the mushrooms and DMT suggestions. OP please stay safe.
AgitatedHiatusWhat are the benefits exactly?
Turd.Fergusonyeah pal? and what happens when a depressed person experiences a bad trip? Yeah a whole smorgasbord of problems. go home dude
S.J.WAnd you're just going to pump your body full of "anti depressants" ...Yeah that's a smart idea too
.MASSHOLE.Difference is these anti-depressants have years of medical studies and research behind them which in turn allows for a controlled dosage plan.
_Ryan_All of what you said is completely paralleled by mushrooms. Psychedelics have been used for thousands of years with the knowledge being passed down through generations. Even now you can see it is apparent that mushrooms are much less destructive than antidepressants or most pharmaceuticals for that matter. I won't deny that pharmaceuticals work but they aren't healthy by any means, very destructive with long term use.

nocturnalYeah from a "doctor" who went to a "school" that are back by the " billions of dollars of research" by the "pharmaceutical company's"
S.J.WYeah "research"... Remember when Dr Scott Reuben was found guilty of faking data for his studies. Pharm companies even paid Scott Reuben to keep quiet.
A 2008 study by Dr Irving Kirsch of Harvard medical school found that the most commonly used antidepressants are no more than a placebo.
http://commonground.ca/2013/08/dr-irving-kirsch-placebos-same-as-antidepressants/
Do you also trust the research done by smoking companies which finds that smoking doesn't cause cancer???
S.J.WYou do realise big pharm is basically bribing doctors though?
http://www.salon.com/2014/01/25/5_evil_ways_the_multi_billion_dollar_drug_industry_is_in_bed_with_your_doctor_partner/
Antidepressants are the biggest ponzi bullshit. It's no more than a placebo for the most part.

.MASSHOLE.Ah yes, Dr. Scott Reuben, let us take a singular doctor who faked his research and assume all the others do the same thing. Do yourself a favor, do not generalize an entire profession off of the mistakes of a few. You sound like those conservatives you so often decry.
Ironically that piece of research admits that SSRI's are effective but only in a subset of the patients it is prescribed to, those who are severely depressed.
But let us be clear here, the human brain is one of the most complicated aspects of the human body, so to assume that it is as effective as a placebo in everyone is about as right as saying a psychedelic is effective for everyone.
A major reason one should trust SSRI's/anti-depressants over psychedelics is the understanding of the dosage levels behind it.
nocturnalYou never cease to amaze me, yes they're absolutely some cases were Doctor rewarded if they are are to give a specific brand of medication over another. But guess what the doctor I work with doesn't even allow pharmaceutical reps to come in anymore because it's unethical.
What you were trying to say is that every doctor who ever existed is scamming other people by prescribing this medication which is a placebo effect? You really think it was a scam more Doctors would come out and talk about it but for some reason they don't it's just people like you seem to think they are a scam.
I'm not even clicking on the link you posted you're wrong, taking antidepressants for depression helps.
S.J.W]
Way to put words in my mouth. I'm not saying every doctor is corrupt. Or every doctor is going to kill you or whatever the fuck you think I'm saying. All I'm saying is be careful of what your doctor says. Get multiple opinions on the issue. From 2014, the pharm industry spent 6.5 billion dollars on over 600,000 doctors. There's roughly only a million doctors in the US. So there's a pretty high chance that your doctor may have been given money by big pharm. Does that mean he/she is corrupt? Obviously not, but like I said. Getting multiple opinions is the best option before going on any drug.
And lol, As someone who prides himself on his opinions coming from research you sure are ignorant to research. And the study I did post did ruffle some feathers in the pharm industry.
wedresKrotch has a case of "Big Ego"
nocturnalYou said antidepressant are placebos, I guarantee you 95% of almost every single doc in the phyc feild prescribes at least one kind of antidepressant to his or her patient. So you're saying Doctors are duped and prescribing something that doesn't actually work. If you're that worried about your doctor being corrupt from pharmaceutical companies you can look at payments that have to be documented. my doctor took one launch in 2004 and that's it. To be cynical of every single doctor and physician and think they're out to make money off you or don't know what they're talking about is very dangerous thinking. You want a second opinion about vaccines?
That's the whole point of continuing education so Doctor can remain board certified it so they know they know they're update on what they're talking about.
S.J.WDid you know that several top pharm companies are on the top of the of the Corporate criminal list. GlaxoSmithKline was fined 3 billion dollars for false research and midemeanors. Pharm companies also spent more money on marketing than they do on research. Just because they're in the business of making people better doesn't automatically make them saints. Just like politicians aren't saints, or anyone who holds a position of power. Anyways if you can't be bothered to read, then just lol at John Oliver.
