If skiing had no bad influences.

what if tanner hall wasnt allowed to manipulate and mold the sport with his style and athleticism because industry people "blackballed" him? we might be stuck in the era of twister spreads while landing switch on twin tips.... his lifestyle outside of skiing has changed the way he exists in the sport, he should be the god of skiing but instead people talk shit on him for weed or breaking his ankles doing the craziest thing the sport has ever seen... we are lucky the sport hasnt digressed back to aerials and moguls... (or has it?)
there are many skiers that dont get to see the light of day in this "ski" industry, and it is the reason the sport is not core. many snowboarders see it and call it out plain as day. skiing is whack because the best skiers with the best style get blackballed for being bad influences!
how pathetic can a sport be, if moms are controlling it?

I don't think mothers are even a targeted audience in any form of free skiing.

everyone bitches at tanner hall because he didn't know when to quit. he did good when no one trained and they could smoke cigar, get drunk every night and expect to be good because they had the balls. as soon as someone figured out they could train and treat it more like a sport and do better the sport shifted. Tanner didn't like it and so now he just comes off as a bitter asshole. Now he's kind of just washed up in my opinion. This idea is very similar to motocross. when it first started out racers partied and smoked and did good cause they just twisted the throttle. now a days pro motocrossers are some of the most cardio vascular endurance athletes in the world. the old timers don't respect that and think there a bunch of goody two shoes. If these sports are expected to progress this stuff needs to happen. at a certain point in a skiers career the partying and bad habits will slow you down

furthermore, this post is response to Mr.Bishops post about the sports influences and how softcore the sport has become. the "moms" of skiing have blackballed bad influences for the sake of the children (anti-wutang), and now the scene is basically pathetic. weed has become a social stigma of positivity and means of health... "those moms" are true representations of prejudice, close minded ignants that might as well be racist homophobes...

Tanner has been flipping attitude and talking shit probably his whole life, at least since he burst onto the scene at 16. He may have not have handled falling out if the number 1 spot in comp skiing as well as he could have, but whatever who cares, he has the big mountain skills to back it up. And If by bad habits you mean hitting chads switch, ok. Terrible idea otherwise what are you talking about, he has been as driven as anyone, injuries are inevitable in pro skiing.

I was just playing dude im sorry. I don't care if other people use weed, it's not for me though. Tanner and Henrik both slay, I agree. I also agree with you about how softcore the sport has become in recent years.

skiing's had its mavericks/rebels/punks for decades. check Glen Plake. he spent time in Europe so he wouldn't be arrested back here in the USA in the late 80s I think. And since the late 90s?

feels like op just wants to talk about weed. But hey I'm guessing freeski's always been some sorta rebellion against the old-fashioned way of skiing, compare a freeskier to a punk (like an 80's one). Sometimes "bad" influence is needed to create something great.
