Brocka_FlockaI haven't noticed this as much as every kid with a computer think they're going to be the next Skrillex. The amount of soundcloud links on facebook I see is getting ridiculous...
Everyone has to start somewhere! Making electronic music these days shouldn't be seen differently than playing the guitar! And honestly the people I know who are musicians who have stuck with it are doing well.
Since I just referenced my friend in the festival thread who has made it as a rapper and done lots of tours I might as well bring him up in this thread and relate it because it might give some encouragement to a young musician reading this thread! Hopefully this isn't too confusing.
Anyways when I hung out with him alot and lived in the same city (sadly 10 years ago time flies) he rapped a little bit but he probably spent more of his time/energy making beats and songs on his computer rather than rapping. However his closest friends and kids he lived with were rappers who were bigger and more into it and played shows regularly at throughout college they had their own rap group and all that so obviously he was rapping here and there and with them and collaborating but like Im trying to say he wouldn't have rapped as much his roommates and wasn't in their band but he was always creating music on his computer and writing new songs and rapping some.
College winds down and he hooks up with an awesome keyboardist and musician in general to create a band and yeah hes made a career out of being a front man for a decade (his roommates work normal jobs and can only rap on the side.) Those kids were all really good too its just hard to make it music isn't an easy career path. Its cool to make music on your computer and collaborate with good rappers and good musicians.
So keep at it young musicians do your thing!
