Stress fractures and skiing

I am a mogul skier living in Calgary Alberta. Almost three months ago i was diagnosed with stress fractures in my tib and fid. I thought what happened to me was isolated incident. until someone told me about Megan Gunnings retirement and mentioned that it had something to do with stress fractures. Witch wasn't the case but it made me curious to how common this injury really is in our sport. Threw out the whole ski season i complained about the amount of pain in my shins and everyone said it was just shin bang. It wasn't tell the pain continued into the summer that i went to get it checked out. Looking back i probably should have seen the signs sooner. For example i would have difficulty standing up after training for five days straight for a competition. I am assuming the cause of my injury was from my boots not being tight enough around my calf. since then i have switched boots from the full tilt drop kick to the Salomon X MAX 120. I am hoping to be heal for September. I would like to know if their is any one else who has had or knows of someone who has had a similar injury.

I have had them before but because of running. In order to have a good recovery make sure any work outs you do not involve any sort of impact. For example, do not do anything like running for the impact will screw you. Try to do something like go on a stationary bike.
