Kentucky Derby coming up… Question for NS?!

Can a horse win a triple crown by winning the Preakness, and the Belmont stakes in one year, ands then winning the Belmont stakes in the nest year? or does it have to be all in one year? Just curious!

The Triple Crown (Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont) must all be one in one year, consecutively, to count. It's like a calendar-year slam in tennis. The Kentucky Derby is on my list of must-attend events. One of these years...if only tickets, hotels, and travel weren't so expensive. It would be many thousands of dollars for the weekend. Maybe next year.

Yep.

Not holding my breath, probably won't happen for a long time. Racehorses aren't bred like they used to be, nowadays they're so fragile and are bred for speed over everything else like durability and stamina. It's crazy to look at racehorses from 40 years ago and compare them to what they look like now.

Oh and all of the triple crown races are restricted to 3 yr olds so they aren't eligible to race in some one year and others the next year.

I've never been to the derby it self, but on a family vaction on a drive across the country From MN to DC we stopped and toured church hill downs, it was amazing with nothing going on there I can't imagine what it'd be like during derby weekend. I also must go some day.
