shin-bangTry to cut snow blocks
Pile the snow blocks depending on how big you want the jump.
shape the tranny.
Trim sides and front of the jump
Side step and Stomp in run
boom, hit jump
Not sure you fully read OP?
Sounds like he's already building jumps but they're way too steep, and it's the "shape the tranny" he's having issues with.
Plus who actually bothers to trim the sides and front, that only works if you're building with really packed snow and good luck doing that with a spring jump made of lumps of slush; plus who really gives a fuck what it looks like - you're not making a ski film. Not trimming/shaving it = stronger jump.
OP make your jumps way longer, sounds like you're basically building a pyramid, you really want like a long wedge.
It depends a lot on what sort of slope you're building the jump on - if you're building it into a snow-bank (like up a windlip) it's really easy to make a long, gentle tranny. If you're building it on a downhill slope then build a really solid wall for the back of it up to the height you want then backfill it working your way up the hill, depending how steep the hill is you can get a decent jump just making it flat but if you want pop you have to fill a long, long way back otherwise it'll be super sharp.
It also depends on what sort of tricks you want to do off it - if you wanna do backflips you want it pretty vertical whereas if you're predominantly spinning it's easier if the lip is a little flatter.
