Gus won that easily. His first run was flawless compared to everybody else... it didn't seem possible to throw down so cleanly when everybody was just eating shit on that second jump.

Agree, but I saw Goepper's run as 2nd best (cuz Oystein opened early/arm wave--small mistake on a sick run, but still, a mistake).

snowboarding runs all start to look similar after awhile.. a lot more variety of tricks in skiing makes it just so much more entertaining to watch. maybe I'm biased, butt fuck it

I dunno, I'm not watching but I remember even the snowboarders I was with getting bored during the x games snowboard big air last January

I think the problem is that I was going to use real names and then decided to switch to NS names and then just brain panicked between both of them.

I hope those nerds at ESPN/ABC try to pick up Doug & NS for X-Games just like NBC did with Dew. That was so much better than it has been years past.

You honestly were awesome man. It was probably the only time I have ever watched the pre-show stuff. Jack Mitrani did well too.

I really did enjoy it, and I hope that I have the opportunity to do more of this type of a thing. I learned a TON about how these things work and I know I could get a lot better with more practise.

I know right? I now really owe you guys this in the future. I fucked it up bad and feel absolutely terrible. :)

The other big lesson I got from this is actually how important having a host is. Even though you get someone like Georgia - who doesn't know a ton about skiing - without her there I would have been a nightmare.

To keep the show moving there is so many moving parts that the average viewer has no idea is going on. The key is covering the pre-set topics and following the flow of the show. So you need to throw it down to the bottom, follow the same stuff the guys down there are talking about and have athletes/industry people on that fit the flow.

The way they do this is you have one of those little monitors in your ear, and they're both pumping in what is happening in the show and there's a producer that is talking to you through that earpiece.

To keep the show on track (because things change) they are constantly talking to you overtop of the regular show. They'll even talk to you while you're talking to inform you of what is happening and what they need to happen. If you're an experienced host, you can listen to the producer even while you're talking. So Georgia keeps the show on track when they all of a sudden need it to move because she's got years of practise under her belt.

That was why if you were watching men's pipe when schmuck was calling the runs that I both stalled at the beginning and made a mistake at the end. Georgia wasn't in the shot, and I totally fumbled as they were talking to me while the announcers were talking and I was talking.

It was a super cool experience, and I have to give Georgia a ton of props for keeping me on track out there. Even though she said a couple of things that to you guys might have seemed off, she really held it down and was an absolute savior for making sure I was on track and on topic.

Had a ton of fun, and I'll definitely do my best to be able to provide this for you guys more. It was awesome to have tonnes of NSers out there giving feedback, social shoutouts, etc. We totally dominated, and in the end that's a win for everyone.

Yeah exactly - that is the balance they try to maintain. They have one person that is a super experienced television/stream host and then they have experts in the field for each sport.

We do our best to co-ordinate what we're going to say before each segment but there is a lot that changes on the fly. Georgia did an outstanding job keeping things on track, and if we end up doing it together again I'm sure we'll keep the flow going really nicely.
