Knuckling: Easing the pain?

So, we've all been there. You pop off a kicker and realize mid air that you don't have the speed and you're just not gonna make it. In that situation, is there anything you could do to ease the pain of casing?

I'm sure it depends on a lot of things, but generally speaking, is there any way to make it hurt less? Is there an ideal way to fall? Anything to avoid at all costs? etc.

Sometimes, you can absorb some impact by doing a four point landing.

I've had some success by trying to roll over the knuckle and into the landing as quickly as possible.

Perhaps the biggest thing that works for me is really dialing in the speed throughout the day. It's always been worth it take that mellow lap through to look at things before going flying off. If things are getting colder and faster, or more windy, or more slushy, far better to take another speed check or straight air than missing the sweet spot you had sorted out.

Just relax and don't lean back. If you fight it you won't have a chance on a larger jump and the chance of injury will increase. It will end bad either way, just relax and try to compress the landing.

Smashed my chin/cheek on my knee knuckling 45 footer. Got a a blackout, concussion and bled like hell in my mouth. The rest of the body was fine tho. Luckily it was on my last run.. I guess I shouldn't have called the last run..

Don't cut them too short, or you will get ingrown toenails and that shit is horrible.

Just absorb it, or if it's barely a knuckle see if you can suck your knees in and make it over the flat to anything that resembles a down.

If you have time you can take off your clothes to shred weight. Maybe try and make a parachute out of your jacket to slow your decent or lift you into the landing.

Just land as smooth as possible. Know what's coming and make the best of it.

Absorbing all the way into a solid backslap can be a smart move on a particularly bad undershoot. Shin bang and a stiff back is better than a knee to the face and double ejecting tomahawk down the landing.

Land it like your going to stomp a cliff, Get a little front seat in the air with your knees tucked into your chest, then before the moment of impact spring your entire body out and hit tails first and land backseatish

FUCK NO DONT LISTEN TO THIS CUNT. I have undershot plenty of jumps. I took a 55 ftr to flat and broke both my feet. Use common sense say your hitiing a 50 ftr would u rather go Knucklethan 50 ft to flat

Yelling definitely helps. Particularly "Oh shit!" or just a good, loud "FUCK"

If I know I'm coming up way short, I'll land super tail heavy and kinda dump it onto my hip. I generally come up unscathed. Toe-bang brings me to near tears.

Here's a very theoretical way to survive the knuckles

and by theoretical I mean I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS/KNOW OF ANYONE/SEEN ANYONE DO THIS. DO NOT ATTEMPT IT, IT MAY END BADLY.

Anyways, I was thinking of using your tails to absorb the knuckle. Like, a huge tail butter.

When you approach the knuckle, you lean back to about 30 degrees. You push down as hard as you can and let the tails of your skis flex the impact as much as you can get em to. I think this would absorb a significant amount of energy. Although, It could go very badly, and your skis could snap.

I duno... just a thought

Yeah, you would have to be sooo strong to make this work. I wouldnt be able to land on my tails on a 10m case, let alone 20 or more...
