Need lighter setup. Help a brotha

So I'm looking for an overall lighter ski setup. Trying to avoid jumping this year due to injuries so mainly ride rails. I have been riding Vokyl walls I think 185s and my binders are SPK 14s. Overall a super strong, stiff but heavy setup. Is this setup pretty heavy? When comparing other kids stuff it seems to be.

Every lighter ski I see seems to be "nooby". An advice on a cheap ski/binder set up that isn't a beginner ski but isn't heavy?

Volkl walls aren't that heavy but a lighter quality ski would be atomic punx

well that setup is actually pretty lightweight as far as legit setups go. The weight of your skis won't have much of an impact on your riding unless you were riding pow plankks and switch to some chopsticks.

I have some recommendations, but what are you looking for in your new setup? IF you like the feel of what you have now, then i can say that a light, stiff ski is the Fischer Nigtstick. Super sick, durable ski that will be lighter, but stiffer than the Walls

I have been riding on aomic punx for 2 years now and not only are they super light, they are super durable and strong as hell. I had the same thoughts as you when i was looking for a new setup so i opted for FT classics, atomic punx 173cm, and i picked up griffon bindings because unlike you, i hit large tables and booters. But the skis couldnt get lighter and i'm more than happy with them. Once i have ridden these into the ground i will definitely be picking up the latest pair. Worth every penny.

Punx and Wall is pretty similar weight wise. Now i'm not a fan off faction, but their a lighter ski, and I've heard they got a new core which is more durable then the old ones. So maybe consider faction if you want light. But when you're skiing or at least i, i don't really think that much about the weight under my foot.

so what you've guys have been saying is that my Walls aren't unusually heavy? They are a few years old being the 2012 model. Are SPK 14s unusually heavy compared to some other park bindings? My setup was built for hitting booters but I can't be doing that anymore. Maybe point me to some lighter park binders?

The SPK 2014s wont make a difference. Trust me. I'm pretty confident in saying you are good with the set up you have now if that's your only concern.

They are SPK 140s from a few seasons ago. All metal it seems

I think you mean the sth14. They are not a heavy biding though lighter then fks and about on par with jesters/griffons. The only decent binding which would be lighter are the attacks but I would stick with your sth

man i swear my setup is heavier than my last setup (chronics with same binders) and other kids stuff. Could it be because they are the longest skis I've rode on?

Yep it's the size probably. People here always say go up to a big size but they never consider te added weight and added swing weight. Really if your having to ski skis long it probably means you need somthing a bit stiffer that coul surport you in a smaller size.

The walls I have are 185s and I am almost 6'1" and 170lbs. They are for sure stuff enough. Pretty sure it's the swing weight that bothers me the most now that I'm thinking about it.

You only weigh 5lbs more then me but your using skis 9cm longer then me. You coul for sure come down to 181 if not 176. That would make the skis much more nimble but if you went for somthing stiff you would still keep all the stability of the walls

Hmmm yeah that sounds good. I figured being pretty tall longer sticks would be no prob

It really has more to do with your weight. Unless you happen to have a freakishly large head your center of gravity will not be that much higher then someone say 2 inches shorter. It's how much mass you have which really effects how stable a ski will be. If you were 6'1 but weighed 220lbs you may find the 185 is better but at your weight I would think the next size down could work just as well and be lighter.
