Anyone read the book on Chris Kyles life? It is a movie now with Bradley Cooper. Should be interesting.

louie.miragsJokes are meant to be funny and not so serious. For example, when that whole rape joke debacle with Tosh happened, he was just joking. That is his job.
And this is why Seth Rogan is right about American sniper pic.twitter.com/nCukVDb5fB— Gotti (@yoo_gotti) January 20, 2015
Kooky_LukeyTaking a few rednecks on Twitter and displaying it only proves one thing, those guys don't have a brain and missed the point of the movie. Definitely doesn't prove "propaganda".
If you do some research Clint Eastwood is pretty anti-war and made the movie to show how much war changes people and how hard it was to re-adjust to civilian life. The movie doesn't glorify war, go read the book and then watch the movie again.
louie.miragsI am not going to read the book and I am not going to go see the movie. I haven't went to the theaters in years. I am just showing how it sends the wrong message to people. Regardless if I understand what Clint Eastwood is trying to do - look at how less intelligent people react to it. Let's face it, the majority of the country is on the less intelligent side. (and I am not saying I am intelligent or not it is just my opinion)
Kooky_LukeyAnd I like Seth Rogan, and I'm all for jokes, but comparing something to Nazi propaganda is going to rustle people's jimmies. As a semi-intelligent person you should know that.
louie.miragsWithin the last 10 years I have heard stories about former Nazis being prosecuted decades later. But, do you think decades from now Americans who killed innocent civilians will be sent to trial? Not a chance because they were just following orders. What if those nazis were just following orders? Now don't take this the wrong way, I am a Veteran and I am not comparing ALL U.S. troops to nazis. Just making a point about how brainwashed we are that every move the U.S. military must not be questioned.
louie.miragsFor sure.. but he does comedy for a living. Jokes can be edgy as long as they're funny and that joke is pretty clever.
My problem lies more with the government convincing everybody they are always doing "God's work" and they can do no wrong. And if you talk bad about Uncle Sam and their policies you're an unamerican smelly hippie. They have this idea so drilled into so many people's minds that some people refuse to even think for themselves. If the government is killing these people it must be for good reason.

Granite_StateI think we share similar political views but this post erked me. Murdering 12 million people as part of ethnic and social cleansing is far different from civilian casualities of a fraction of that amount from "wartime occupance".
Do I think we should still be in the Middle East and that middle easterners actually threaten our way of life? Fuck no. But right now you are comparing apples to oranges.
SKI.INGYou just lost credibility to me. Those troops are CURRENTLY being prosecuted in the U.S. Not 50 years later when they're some geriatric vegetable with Alzheimers or cancer, and they couldn't care less.
All people do is question the moves that the U.S. military makes. That's literally all I see on TV and all I see on here. I find it disheartening. And I'm curious, did you make a tour or see combat? Trying to get a better grasp of where your view is coming from.
Barefootin_FiendLOL, you brag about being the most progressive country and you don't even have a fucking clue what all that entails. way to reinforce the kiwi male stereotype....
and just because you freely fuck sheep without any legal consequences doesn't make you a beacon of freedom to the rest of the world....
Granite_StateMaking a statement like "NZ is the most socially progressive country in the world in terms of freedom and personal rights, among other things." without providing any reason why is the most self rigteous post I've seen in this entire thread. I too am not trying to say my country is better, though it is ;). And I'm not even that worked up, its just every time a political or social thread like this comes along you are the first person to start bashing America. Every. Time. And I do think America is better than most countries. Have you ever been to America? I'll tell you this, my trip to Greece made me thank god that I live in this country.
Plus, really when it boils down to it, the only good things that have come out of NZ are the All Blacks and Peter Jackson/Lord of the Rings movies
las.I've been to the states (though only to New York and LA so I'm not really qualified to speak on the entire country),
UtardI saw it. It sucked and Bradley Cooper looked like a "bear" from the cover of a gay mag.
las.You still haven't answered my question. How is population size relative to the freedoms and rights our respective governments award us?
las.Do your own research, lazy. A simple google search should give you what you need.
I've been to the states (though only to New York and LA so I'm not really qualified to speak on the entire country), and the people I met and interacted with were generally the most obnoxious, ignorant, uncultured, and uncivilized humans I've ever come across. This obviously doesn't reflect all americans - I have some great friends from nevada and colorado, and I'm sure you're a semi-decent human being too - but from what I've seen the US definitely, without question has the highest concentration of these sorts of people, and I've lived and travelled around the world. The US is just too inward-looking, in my opinion. It's alienating itself from the rest of the civilized world.
I'm fine with NZ's modest accomplishments, too. I really don't care. If it makes you feel better thinking your country of birth has offered more to the world than mine, then hats off to you. Just keep it to yourself yeah? This in-your-face, flag-waving garbage is so unnecessary.
The referenced post has been removed.
Barefootin_FiendHint: The SPI isn't all about freedoms and rights....
Granite_StateYou aren't qualified to speak on our country at all. You visited the two largest cesspools the U.S. has to offer and used that experience to base your ideals of America off of.
Guess what? When I went to Athens I thought THAT was largest concentration of scum I have ever seen. Talk about a disgusting city. But did I let that experience lead me to believe all Greeks are like that? Hell no.
And the U.S. has offered more to the world than you country could ever hope to. You can thank America for glasses (optical) to dental floss, from the sewing machine to the combine harvester, from Morse code to the circuit breaker, from inhalational anesthetic to the dishwasher, from the ratchet wrench to the cash register, from skyscrapers to the ball point pen. And that is just shit from the 1700-1800's. Should I continue? The shear amount of inventions alone that have greatly benefitted the world and improved the quility of life the U.S. is credited for far outweighs ANYTHING New Zealand has ever done.
This isn't a pissing match, based solely on what our countries have contributed to the world we are a better nation. Deal with it.
las.Tell me more.
las.Well done mate, did you figure that out all by yourself? Again, you've dodged the question. For the third time: what does population size have to do with what rights etc we receive from our governments? We both know you're completely talking out of your ass, so quit now while you're behind
las.I've had many other experiences with americans, in addition to my trips to LA and NY. I stand by what i said: they are invariably more uncultured, rude, and ignorant than any other group of people I've come across. That's just from my own, and many other people's observations.

The world fucking owes us indefinitely.
Barefootin_Fiendi've purposely not answered your question because it should be obvious to anyone who isn't a mindless, sheep fucking simpleton.
i'd also like the mention that our government doesn't give us our rights (in the US). our rights are endowed by natural law and the government is only there to protect those rights. although I'm certain this is more than you're capable of processing.
las.I stand by what i said: they are invariably more uncultured, rude, and ignorant than any other group of people I've come across. That's just from my own, and many other people's observations.
Kooky_LukeyRude: Yes everyone in New York and LA are incredibly rude everyone knows that.
Uncultured: You do realize America is the melting pot of the world right? There are more subcultures here than your country could ever hope to have. Go down to New Mexico, Arizona, etc and see Mexicans celebrating Day of the Dead, then go to New England and have a bowl of clam chowder, and then go down to Georgia, talk to some some of the Peach farmers and each some chicken and biscuits.
You're right the U.S. is so uncultured. Get your head out of your ass dude.
las. It's more a case of multiculturalism, in my opinion, and there is a large difference between the two terms. The famous example is tossed salad vs tomato soup: america claims to be the latter, but is really the former.
I think the best proof of that is how you have so many different people of various ethnicities and nationalities, yet each group typically has to have their own special title, for example african americans, irish americans, etc etc. Classing different people so extremely like that makes segregation inherent, and goes against the definition of the melting pot situation.
If you want a true melting pot, go to London. It is undoubtedly the cultural capital of the world, and there aren't ethnic classes there like you'd find in america. Everyone is the same: just fellow human beings.
When I say uncultured too, I mean that america is very inward looking, and there is only, or at the least heavy, emphasis on what america is up to, and not the rest of the world. You can see this in your news media, the way history is taught in your country, through hollywood, from your foreign policy and how you act on the world stage... the list goes on. It's quite obvious
las.Sweet as, that's awesome. Please, keep going
Oh fuck off. Answer the question. Let's see what other bullshit you can muster up. If it's so obvious, explain It.
Secondly, that's very romantic in theory, but in reality it doesn't work like that. Governments may not create those supposedly innate rights for us, but they certainly do manage them, and grant us ones of their choosing. That is a compromise many humans have to make: order and protection for control.
Barefootin_Fiendit's so funny watching you struggle with this concept....
plyswthsqrrls(I'm canadian by the way, I have no horse in this race, we're just glad people let us stick around)
choobso its better to lose their culture and heritage in a big melting pot where everyone becomes the same? i believe its better for people to preserve their culture and uniqueness to share with others who can respect that other culture while still keeping their own.
las.Who said anything about losing your culture and heritage when integrating into a new society? Everyone isn't becoming the same, they're just living in harmony without feeling the need to tell everyone where they're from and what they associate themselves with
CirilloYet in London, which you referred to before, there are videos of people going around trying to enforce sharia law in their neighborhoods. Definitely living in harmony though.
.frenchyso are people not allowed to defend their favorite movie?

ShredsterrThere's a reason that American tourists put Canadian flags on their travel gear when they go to Europe, and it's because so many people expect them to respond in the same way you did.
