LSS definitely tops my list- great soundtrack, vibe, and just a huge nostalgia factor. Can't believe that movie came out eight years ago.

Whoever doesn't have Shanghai Six, Realtime and LSS on the top is probably 14 years old. Everyone who considered himself a freeskier when those 3 came out knows that their impact and mind-blowingness at the time where huge.

No, dude. Pure opinion. I remember being mind blown by the trailer for LSS. I have realtime on DVD. Etc. etc.

That being said, Refresh above those.

I am so tired of this circlejerk. Everything about the movie now is better. The skiings better, the locations are better, the cinematography is better, the editing is better, and there's generally more money being shoveled into these movies, which in turn makes them better.

Yes, earlier movies were probably more influential and more mind-blowing at the time, but that's how innovation works. It's a lot harder to innovate 15-20 years after the explosion of a sport than it is 5 years in, when there are less people doing less things. So take off the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia and realize that the new movies that are coming out haven't had a huge drop in quality, especially Level 1.

just cause the older movies have more history and were game changing at the time doesn't automatically make them better.

i agree with the fact that new movies have better everything...skiing, cinematography, locations, etc. For me its hard to watch even the classic edits when they look so bad visually. HD or bust

Ok, this was bad phrasing. But basically, any old edit would be improved with HD video and better cinematography.

music took a turn for the worst, that's for sure. punk > gangster rap for skiing. although it's been a while since ski movies were full of punk.

Recent vids soundtracks have been good and bad.
Judging each movie by its soundtrack, which is all that really matters imo,

we get:

1 high five
2 realtime
3 shanghai six
4 long story short
5. Refresh

Who gives a fuck about the rest. These are the only films that matter

You say what impacted you the most; refresh made me switch from snowboarding to skiing and was the first ski video I ever saw. Then probably sunny and after dark because I went to the premieres in denver /claim.

I never watched any of the prior movies until after refresh, so there is no nostalgia. But seriously you make this thread then a few posts down say ^ ?
