dognutsyeah it is weird how people hate on them so much, like there still humans. but again im not going to celebrate them nor do i support there choice and the whole pronouns thing pisses me off. i respect them as humans but get tired of certain people sorta shoving themselves in your face and needing attention.
Some gay people are over the top for sure, but so are a lot of hetero people. Straight people will be making out in public doing all this stuff, a gay character exists in a movie and hollywood is "shoving gay down everyone's throats".
As far as choice. Um yeah, it definitely isn't.
As far as pride it wouldn't exist if it didn't need to. The progress that has been made wouldn't have happened if people were speaking up. Nobody gave a fuck about gay people 40/50 years ago.
The problem is that bigotry doesn't just disappear.
Personally you wouldn't even know I was gay. But that doesn't even matter. There's a trans skater i follow that is out crushing in the streets and that shit is awesome. People should be who they are. Are there some people using it to get attention? Sure, but thats smal to the people just trying to live and have laws protect them.
I had a boss and his gaper friend talking mad shit about me at a park i worked in. Telling people I was a f***** and not to hang out with me. Me at the time just hiking rails, learning tricks, and seting up cool features.
I'm just saying that it's straight bullshit to act as if there has always been acceptance and people are just being obnoxious.
I as hell didn't chose to be gay. Weird bigoted small town and religious bullshit made that pretty weird to grow up with. Idk, I'm just over that shit. Even in the small town i grew up most of the people that go out are pretty cool. Some were always chill, some have changed.
It's unfortunate that stopping gay people from having rights is a hill so many people are willing to die on.
Things don't change overnight and if you think people are harboring weird hate still you're crazy.
I don't need attention, I'm not throwing anything in anyones face, I'm just nore open to telling people to get fucked when they say weird hateful stuff about gay people for no reason.
Some people play it up a bit to make it more obvious. People assume you're straight if you dont tell them, but if you tell them you're making a big deal out of it. If you dont and they find out, why didnt you say something
Same with people saying homophobic shit at work or to friends. Their friend might be gay and they don't know. I've been pretty over all the weird racist/homophobic shit people say in mtn ops. Threw some pride and rainbow stickers on my board water bottle and coffee mug as well as started calling people out.
People shouldn't have to be scared of someone at work finding out they're gay. People shouldn't have to put up with fucked up homophobic jokes because thats just what this guus been saying since 1850 when he was in highschool.
The fact that people felt the need to have a hetero pride parade, that people comment fucked up things on any post or article about gay people, and many other things show it's still an issue.
It's 2021, people need to worry about themselves. Someone being gay and having rights doesn't impact you. If a joke isn't okay anymore maybe it was never really that okay. Idk
