I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

I've never read so much stupid shit in one post before. Downduro was a joke term you gapers took seriously. "enduro" is a racing format, not a category of bikes. Sure, you should definitely put a dual crown fork on your bike because that's really the only difference with DH-specific bikes, you fucking idiot.

There's literally astm classification between bikes that determine 'trail/all mtn' and 'enduro/freeride'

In other words enduro bikes are built to dh specs whereas trail bikes aren't. Lemme know if you find an astm 5 trail bike

Damn you’re an idiot. Look at any bike site they have several categories, usually downhill, enduro, Trail, and XC.

Don’t overcomplicate it. Downhill bikes got certain geo and weight will make it suck to climb even with a different fork.

Sounds like you’re somewhat new, just get a decent full sus or hard tail that’s around 130-160 travel all around. You can rent a dh bike at bike parks

I'd probably get an enduro or freeride bike that is already set up for climbing with a dropper post and larger range cassette if that's your end goal. DH bikes are mostly gonna have slack seat tube angles so even if you add a dropper, the climbing geo is a bit compromised

First time riding the maxxis and holy fuck that thing grips like crazy! Going up all these slick rock climbs I can lean back and put so much weight into it and it never spins out. Now I know why everyone always says tubeless is the only way.

Get the cheapest biggest shorts at your lbs and wear whatever shirt you want. If you’re trying it’ll show and imo not trying is more drip

Jerseys are mad wack imo but I got those baggy fox shorts that look nice and baggy. It’s way too hot to ride in pants for trails you gotta pedal.

Bike park and dirt jumps i agree, I got some thick work Levi’s that take a beating. Plus baggy carhart shirt always.

I wear my gravel/road bib shorts under my baggies all the time, great for comfort and "saves" money because I don't have to additionally get any inner shorts. Bike-specific clothes are expensive though, no denying it. But agree you can wear literally whatever, especially if you aren't on some mega XC sweatfest.

Loving this upgrade (Juliana Joplin aka a SC Tallboy) from my Hei Hei Al. It has done wonders for my progression on features. Sold the latter to my friend, the best kind of sale!

Went to Whistler for the long weekend. Definitely missed having Fitz, and shoving 4 people and bikes in the gondola kinda sucks. Stoked to get back up there once Garbanzo and Creekside are going! Nothing gets the jumps back like a few on A line

It depends where you are and what type of soil you have. Clay soils would be a no-no (where I live), but other types can be ok.

so i bought a used Evil Offering in feb of 2022 then i broke my collarbone in April come june or july when i was cleared to ride I took my bike in to get the suspension set up for me and then they found a soft spot in the frame so the people I bought it from warrantied it probably got it back late july or early august but since i bought the bike 3 friends died and got that divorce and never rode my bike. Then yesterday I finally got the suspension set for me and this was my actual first time riding my first 29er and this is my first bike with gears 😆 certainly not on my bmx or slope but stoked to rip the resort ~4 times a week on this bad boy

just get the seals find a video how to replace them I took the whole fork apart and put took 40mm of travel out. I also carelessly break shit all the time and never fix it. I've serviced a few forks and shocks myself and it was easier than most

I find myself just about shooting off the top by the time I get to the exit.
